April 30, 201016 yr I'd guess you'd see gains in the 30-40% neighborhood, but you'll need to assign core affinity manually or disable hyperthreading to avoid thread collisions which will cause stuttering.
April 30, 201016 yr Author I'd guess you'd see gains in the 30-40% neighborhood, but you'll need to assign core affinity manually or disable hyperthreading to avoid thread collisions which will cause stuttering. After doing some more research, I'm going to go with the i7 930, need a new mobo and some faster ram, will keep the 8800gt until the price comes down on the gtx 470s. At ibuypower they have a gamer pc with the above processor, 1 TB HD, liquid colling, all for less than a grand even with dominator ram, no os though and a last gen ati card.Wish I had a kid so I had a bigger tax return so I could buy the i7/980X though, will have to talk to my girlfriend about that though. Thanks for your help Max.- Jeff Jeff Commercial | Instrument | Multi-Engine Land AMD 5600X, RTX3070, 32MB RAM, 2TB SSD
