Voice Crash

Featured Replies

I have been searching for a solution to this problem since I bought RC4 this week, but due to nature of this forum and the issue I have not been able to find the information. Plus, the various manual for this product do not give me any insight.Every time I click on a wave file in the menu, for example under Voices or under plane data, I get an APPhang crash and have to shut down. This continues into FS when I first try to interact with the program. Instead, FS ATC works with the RC 4 window saying Standby. In short since buying this program I have not been able to use it. I do have Kaspersky, but the pinned topic at the top of this forum has no information.I have Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, the current FSUIPC, MyTraffic, VRS_Superbug, AICarriers, and some add on scenery as my only current add ons.

are you starting rc every single time as admin?
are you starting rc every single time as admin?
Oops I should have known to put that, yes I have the program to start as admin.

If you bring up RC without FS running and you sample a voice in the voices menu or airline/aircraft menu with the speaker icon, you get a crash, correct?RC voices run directly into your .wav mixer of your Win sound system. This needs to be addressed first. In your modules folder rename advdisplay.dll. It is no longer required with the current FSUIPC module which provides a response area in the RC window.Once sound playing via the RC voice tests is running, in FSX audio or ATC selection, turn down or disable FS ATC so there is no conflict. If you are running a security program check out the pinned topic regarding Kapersky/Norton at the forum top. RC must be a fully trusted application. Also RC must be set to run as admin and you must be logged on as an admin to run it.Are you running any other applications that output audio at the same time but not through the FSX mixer? Your first test after fixing your initial sound problem should be running just FSX and RC.Your RC version should be 4.3.0.3843 or .3845. If not post here and you'll be instructed how to contact jdtllc for a free upgrade link.

I appreciate the reply, but it does not help. As I posted originally the pinned topic concerning Kaspersky has no infomation, just the first post is visible, none of the replies. Also, as I posted, I have RC under Admin.advdisplay.dll does not exist on my computer.I have to current version of RC.I can play the sound files seperately, but not in RC. I also get standby when I try to interact with RC in FS.

As well as setting RC itself to run as an admin, be sure you are logged in with administrator rights. Try actually logging in as Administrator.Regarding security settings RC needs to be set as a trusted program in all security applications including Windows security applications. I can't help you there. There should not be any reason that without anything else running that RC can not play its own .wav files from the voices or airline/aircraft menu.It might make things easier if RC is not in any Program Files folder. I suggest reinstalling RC.Regarding just the audio, it appears RC can't get its own wavs and/or can't get to your Windows temporary files folder to combine wavs during flight.RC wavs are mono 8-bit sampled at 11.250 KHz and playing at 88 kbps, a standard format. As for as getting STANDBY in the RC Window, that happens when RC is for one combining the wavfiles via its script files. If you get that window without RC running, then one of your other programs is writing to FSUIPC for display. You may get a standby when RC is assembling a clearance for you or you initiate contact with RC let us say for permission to change frequencies to get weather. So step 1 I think is to reinstall RC not in a program files folder. If you do not have your original key then repeat the registration process insuring your e-mail address is the same.

from the pinned topicAnd indeed that fixes it. For any Kaspersky users out there, 'Settings' 'Threats and Exclusions' 'Trusted Zone' 'Trusted Applications' and adding RC as a trusted application will do the trick. Petraeus compiled those settings.

I had done that, I was hoping there was some other magic I was missing. I have reinstalled twice, into its own directory, not under any Program files. BTW, should I have two folders, one rcv4, the other rcv4x?I also do have a registered version of FSUIPC.I am still having the same issue after doing it all again. Now using a default aircraft, I get the RC box, but I can not interact with it, whenever I press any button nothing happens. When I end flight FSX crashes. Also, the APPHangB when I try to play a voice in the RC interface. so basically, after all this time and effort I am nowhere and you must understand a good bit frustrated and ticked at this point. I will run it again and try to log the error, if you think that would help. At that point we can go into why there was no warning about these possible issue before I bought it.

rcv4 is for fs9, rcv4x is for fsx. if you want to use rc for fs9, run the .exe as admin from the rcv4 directory. fsx, run .exe as admin from rcv4x directoryfsuipc isn't in the picturemake a log, instructions pinned to the top of the forum, and send me the log after the crash.have you clicked the .flt/.wx button, and defined the path where fs9 and fsx store the .flt/.wx files? that would be another reason for crashing if you haven't done that.jd

One generic item that new users frequently are not aware of in regard to no RC menu response to key presses is that FS must have the focus (active window), not the RC/FSUIPC window. I you have dragged it into position be sure to click on your main aircraft panel to insure FS is active.Just one item in your list.In regard to fsuipc for other processes, fsuipc installers first use now the Windows registry to place it in the correct modules folder. You might wish to check your registry settings by using this free tool "FSX/FS9 Registry Repair Tool (36KB) " you'll see on this page:http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=libraryand you'll need to run it logged in as an admin and have it set to run as admin. If the FSUIPC installer has a problem eventually it will let you browse to the correct modules folder for the correct version of FS installed.Another cause of lack of menu response has been another add-on (including FMCs in keyboard mode) not passing on keystrokes to RC. Make sure your RC keystrokes you defined in its keyboard setup are unique from other applications.

Yes, I have defined the .flt/.wx button. I will try running the log again, the last few times all I had was the something like Debug is on, but I will try it again. The only time FS crash is when I end the flight, of course the last time I did it, it did not crash. My only apparent problem in FS is that I can not interact with the RC menu at all.

I will give the tool a shot. I have checked the keystrokes, which is why I have tried RC with add ons and with defaults, but have had no joy in solving the issue.

fs is running, not on the fly now window, or the flight planner window, but running, plane at the gate, clock on the panel ticking BEFORE you click the start rc button in rc. if fs isn't ready for rc to tell it what keys rc is going to use, then the keys are ignored when you're running.also make sure you click debug, before loading the .plnalso make sure you close rc properly, don't ctrl-alt-del, or use task manager to kill the rc procress. click the button in the dialog box telling you of the run time error, or what ever the error is when rc "crashes"jd
