May 9, 201016 yr I'm using Dennis Defranco's CYYZ 2007 (FS2004) in FSX, it works great, day and night. A few of the runways have autogen along the approach, 1/4 mile from the threshold and the are right on the VASIS....is there a program I could buy or something I can do to remove them? Thanks a lot.Jonathan Rather

Thanks a lot.Hmmm, you're using CYYZ 2007 from Dennis Defranco. Hmmm, not sure if these files will help with that, but I'll mention them here just in case.If your problem is specifically trees, do a search for "Lumberjack" or "remove trees" (or something similar to that) in the files library. You're looking for "AGEXCL3X.ZIP" and/or "AGEXCL5X.ZIP".I found them over at flightsim.com, but I would be confident they will be here on AVSIM as well. These files remove trees near runways for every airport supplied as standard with FSX. AGEXCL3X.ZIP clears 3 times the runway width and AGEXCL5X.ZIP clears 5 times the runway width. Both clear 1.5 times the runway length. Files are by Jim Keir.I use them and they work wonderfully. I am using the 3x file. I find 5x to be too "unrealistic". In some cases 5x made the scenery look quite strange in my opinion. So 3x was my choice. But, it's a personal preference. Regards, Freddy

May 9, 201016 yr Lumberjack, by Jim Keir, available in the Avsim library will exclude both trees and buildings, since they are autogen exclusions.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
May 9, 201016 yr thanksya i seen this, but I dont want to remove tree/building 3 times the length of the runway lol. Lumberjack, by Jim Keir, available in the Avsim library will exclude both trees and buildings, since they are autogen exclusions.Best regards.Luis
May 10, 201016 yr thanks. ya i seen this, but I dont want to remove tree/building 3 times the length of the runway lol.So these files do buildings too. Well there you go, I wasn't aware of that. (The filename makes sense to me now, "agexcl3x.zip" means "autogen exclusion 3x".)Both clear only 1.5 times the runway length. So only a small section at either end of the runway is cleared. Just enough to allow aircraft to land. The 3 and the 5 in the filenames I think refer to how much gets cleared either side of the runway, ie width, depending on which one of the two files you choose to use.Really, it looks very realistic. It is not, how should I say, all square and rigid ... it looks just like it would in the real world; as though the area around the runway was actually cleared to allow for landing aircraft. You can try the files to see what they do. You install the files by simply extracting them in to "<FSX>\Addon Scenery", but the readme which comes with the files also mentions you can put them wherever you want. If they don't suit what you are after or aren't doing the job you require, then it is a simple matter of removing (deleting) the files and things will return back to exactly how they were before you tried them. February 21, 201214 yr My thanks to Jim Keir. I work at CYBW and there are not many trees in the open plains of southern Alberta... This "lumberjack" package makes the approaches on runways more realistic. :( Mario Bergeron
