Lightning strikes

Featured Replies

Hi all, I was flying into KDFW yesterday & there were a lot of lightning around. The problem is most of the time it looked just like a block of white. Even the bolt from the cloud looked like a thick white block. I know it has not been that way forever but something has changed. I checked my effects files & they are the default files. I have a ATI HD 4800 512 meg card using the 8.702.00 drivers. I am running a Pentium D with 2gigs of ram on a Asus P5B motherboard with XP SP3. I am going to set up a test flight so I can play with my settings & drivers but some direction to start would be nice. Thanks.Pat Callaghan

HelloI am wondering if it could be something to do with your display settings I.E. Have you switched say from 32bit to 16bit? As an example my current settings are...Mode=1280x1024x32 I have in the past tried 1280x1024x16 in the endless simming game of tweak the performance.Using the 16bit thing will certainly produce weird effects(try looking at the sun)you will soon switch back.Anyways some thoughts.cheers Andy
