Getting rid of wind on ground only

I know FSUIPC has an almost holy status in FSX-land, but looking at the featurelist I can find NOTHING that would make the purchase worth it for me, I am sorry to say. :( Well, apart from the 'no-wind-on-the-ground-option', obviously. Which isn't on the featurelist btw... so please let me know what else I am missing! :(
Honestly, it would take a very long message to describe -even briefly- all that FSUIPC offers as "features," and I'm certain I'd miss more than a few.I should think though, that the fact that the basic user's manual is sixty well-written pages in a PDF document speaks for itself! And that's not including the additional forty-eight thrill-packed pages for the "Advanced Users..." :(

I have used FSUIPC for so long with all previous versions of MSFS. I cannot imagine using FSX without it. The small amount to register it and for what it does to FS is beyond words. It is worth every penny, in addition if you use it with some payware programs the additional functions provided by the registered version are just an added plus. :( Now if you want to stop the surface wind problem, there is another program, not free, that will do that and it is ASE http://www2.hifisim.com/To my knowledge there is nothing "free" that will do what you want. To go along with another poster, there are times that a runway is not oriented to the current wind conditions and you have to be able to do a takeoff with a cross wind, just like the real world. :( CheersBob JohnsonKDTW

You take off into the wind and you land into the wind. If you are using same runway for flying touch and go's or flying pattern and doing ILS approach and landing then you can go to the 'World\Weather...' menu and set wind 8 kts and heading to the runway you will be using. Then in 'Options\Settings\Display and 'Weather' tab, tick 'Disable turbulance and thermal effects on aircraft' and also set slider for 'rate weather changes..' all the way to left. Also find and disable wind 'turbulance/gusts' in 'World\Weather..' menu. FSUIPC? I have it installed but I never use it for weather OR controls-I do my own for both). Use the same above method (wind direction/rate) for taking off at your present airport. Then when close to destination, and knowing what heading your runway will be, set wind direction to runway heading. At least that rate (8 kts) can't effect you much, unless you are flying the Cub (and no (zilch/zero) effect if flying the 747). If you use 'weather theme' option then you can't control anything. I alway set my own weather thru 'World\Weather' menu. Only way.CBNapamule
