May 19, 201016 yr I am looking for a good one Fuel Planning, need help for.Now : I was fliyng HAAB-FLLS alt. FVBU, after 600 nmI got indication FUEL INSUFFICIENT. I cannot believe thatand flow to destination. Checked fuel, after landing, andstill having 5000 Kg.!!!!!! How it was possible? I used737/900 PMDG. Apologize for my English.Gigi
May 19, 201016 yr Full name Gigi please. The FMS gives a fuel alert when it calculates that fuel required to destination plus value entered for reserves exceeds amount on board. I am not sure how metric values work, but in English units 3,000 pounds for reserve is entered as 3.0 Dan Downs KCRP

Almost every time I do a flight of 2000 nm or greater I get the 'Insufficient fuel' message. I then check the 'Progress' page on the FMS and sure enough the fuel remaining figures at the next waypoint and the destination show zero. My next check is to look at fuel remaining and fuel flow information and then do a fuel remaining/time to destination calculation to confirm that there is in fact enough fuel plus reserves. This check confirms that all is well and sure enough as I approach my destination the 'Fuel Remaining' on the 'progress' page starts to climb back to the amount that I calculated at flight planning. I hope that helps ease your concerns. Neil Bradley http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpgNeil Bradley

I don't have a suggestion about a particular product but I have found the following works well for me.Calculate the total time interval from departure to destination (I get this from the flight log created by Active Sky) say 4 hours 30 minutes for 1960 nm.I then use a fuel flow of 3,300 kg/hr to get 15,000 kg fuel. Why 3,300? because I have found over many flights that it is quite accurateplus a fixed reserve of 2,400 kg, plus alternate (at the same rate), plus ant holding fuel at 2,000 kg/hrI use a cost index of around 10.Neil Bradley http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpgNeil Bradley

May 24, 201016 yr Use the manual (cruise planning section). Lots of information and method explained.Once you calculate your flight, alternate and contingency fuel put it and the route with winds into the FMS and it will also do a quick calculation for you. The 737 is much easier to plan than the heavies, experience will make it easier. Dan Downs KCRP
