Firstly, I recently purchased PMDG's FSX 747 with FS2Crews software for it and I would like to get the most out of them but can't seem to on my own.I am pretty much completly new to flying flight sim properly and can only startup/fly the default 737 due to a very handy tutorial on youtube. Now, I knew switching to PMDG's 747 would be a big jump for me, but I am in way over my head, especially with the stuff FS2Crew adds in.I've had pretty much no luck with the PMDG manuals, mainly due to the fact I dont always know where the buttons are or quite what to do.Although I have found a tutorial on youtube which explains how to start the 747 from a cold and dark state, its not much help with fs2crew as far as I can tell. I also get stuck when he starts to talk about the IRS/FMC aligning it and putting it to nav, all seems very confusing...Below is just one of the problems I ran into so far:When I tried the tutorial flight in the FS2Crew PMDG 747 FSX PDF I am fine untill I get to Section 1, number 8 on page 26 where it says:8. We now need to setup the electrical power. Although the FO would typically do this in the real-world (as rare as it would be to receive a Dark cockpit if the first place!), responsibility to setup the initial electrical power FS2Crew delegates to the user.9. Start the APU and put the APU on the busses when APU electrical power is available.Part 9 is where I get stuck. I have looked through PMDG's manuals and have not found anywhere where it talks about putting the APU on the busses when the electrical power is available. Most importantly the manuals do not say how to do this and what it should look like whilst doing it and once its done.I think this is what it means, but I'm not enitrely sure:Once you have the battery running, you then double right click the APU button onto the 'start' position, it will then flick to the 'on' position which will then start the APU. After a short time two 'Avail' lights come on which you then click and they turn to 'on'.Is this what putting the APU on the busses is? Below the switched with 'Avail' in them I see four switches labelled 'Bus' with 'auto' in them and another label 'bus tie'. Do I need to do something with those switches to put the APU on the busses? Logic tells me yes, but to be honest I have no clue.ALso number 14 onwards, about the IRS seem really confusing too, so I think i will need help there too...I have searched quite a bit for some in depth tutorials but have not found any that show and tell me how to all the things I need to do.The only other option I can think of if anyone is willing to, is to chat in MSN or via the multiplayer feature to help me get a better understanding of what I am supposed to be doing.I am really keen to learn how to fly this aircraft with FS2Crews addon but, frustratingly I always seem to get stuck because of not enough detailed information for my very limited knowledge and understanding of this software.I would very much appreciate anyone taking the time to help me and thankyou for reading my post.

Hi,I recommend going to YouTube and typing in PMDG 747 for FS2Crew 747. There are numerous demo videos and tutorials out there.APU:1. Turn APU start switch to on. Make sure the battery is on first. Once the APU is on-line (takes maybe 40 seconds or so), the APU GEN lights should illuminate. Just press them. The APU will then be powering the AC busses.IRS:Take a 2nd look at the PMDG manuals, but generally just enter your position in the FMC and set the IRS switches to NAV.Cheers,

Thankyou very much for the response, I will have another go at reading the manuals and trying the practice flight in the FS2Crew manual.I found a video on youtube that gave me more of an insight into how to work the PMDG 747 and its FMC but unfortuanatly I havnt managed to find a video or tutorial which shows you how to use FS2Crew with the 747. I hope I manage to work out how to use the PMDG 747 with FS2Crew's addon for it.I really hope I can learn how to get it all working as both products look fantastic.
