July 10, 201015 yr I guess you can use a single FSX install, but be very, very careful. Besides registry entries there are many other system and user dependencies. For example, directx, C++ runtime libraries, MSXML and .NET libraries, FSX Simconnect all are in your %windir% path, and various things which are in the user data sections (fsx.cfg, dll.mdl, exe.xml, sinconnect.xml, cameras.cfg etc. Also in the "all user data" area including scenery.cfg. Plus, there is the FSX folder in "my documents". All of these you have to manage across both systems to prevent problems.I did a little test way back in Vista beta and what I did was to do a full install of FSX in both systems (to different locations) and installed all the same updates etc. Only when that was done did I redirect the Vista install to the XP install and patch up the registry and path data. then I deleted the vista install (not uninstall, just the main FSX folder and subfolder).scott s..
