Problem installing FSX on Windows 7?

Featured Replies

So I've been playing FSX for about 6 months on my Windows Vista in Ohio. When i moved down to Florida, i've played for about 3 months and stopped playing, and uninstalled. When i got a upgrade to Windows 7 on my Windows Vista Computer, everything was great, except for installing FSX. When i installed FSX, It worked, but only for a day. Then, the icon to play FSX went missing!! I searched EVERYWHERE on my computer to find it, and couldnt find the icon or anything to activate FSX. NOW...I try installing it today...and i get the install wizard to start, then it gives me a 1607 Error. Its the only installer that will actually have the FSX Instaltion screen. I dont know what to do now!! I want to play FSX on Windows 7!I've heard that others have FSX working on Windows 7, but not me. :(

Do you have a folder for the FSX installation on your drive? The best way to ensure all goes well is to go to add/remove programs. Remove it. Then re-install it.If you have a dedicated drive for FSX, use D:\Flight Simulator X as a folder. Then install Acceleration or Sp1, then Sp2.The exe file is always inside the FSX folder.

I put Disc One into the DVD/CD Drive and its on the Removable Storage E: Drive. How would i install onto D? I still have to do SP1 & SP2 for every installation?

You should use sp1 and sp2. A lot of add-ons require sp2 anyway.

What you really need is Acceleration. Nothing beats the thrill of taking of a carrier at night, doing a mission, and coming back and landing in a moving carrier.Plus, all the patches are integrated. If you don't have Acceleration, then install SP1, load FSX, then exit. Then install SP2. It's a major improvement.
