June 3, 201016 yr Hi all, having trouble entering Lat/Long waypoints in FMC off Australian SID/STAR procedures. Have tried entering in the format according to the manual for FMS but that is Northern hemisphere and trying to understand how to enter them for Southern hemisphere (i know it shouldnt make a difference). Eg. on Aust arrival chart for YMML a waypoint is listed as S38 01 00 E145 18 42 so i typed it in as that without the spaces between numbers and include / but i get format error.I entered S380100/E1451842 but format error. When reading manual they have "." between them at end. I thought from our charts they are already degrees, decimal minutes. Confused . . . anyone with some feedback?CheersJeff B Jeff Blyth MD11 J41 747 NGX . . awaiting 777 !!!
June 3, 201016 yr S38 01 00 E145 18 42 is degrees minutes seconds, you need to convert to minutes decimal. In this exampleS 38 01.0 E145 18.7 (42/60=.7) and then enter it per the manual (see FMS.100.5). There is also an article on FMS waypoint entry in the PMDG Knowledge Base. Dan Downs KCRP
