June 3, 201016 yr HelloI would like to know which is the procedure to disangage teh APP during landing. It has happened I disangaed the app to follow a VOR before landing but it seems is not possible. Everytime I disangaed/engaged the A/P the app turned on. And no success switching to VOR/LOC or HDG.I had to made a G/A ?Thank in advanceAndrea

Maybe cycling the Flight Directors off then on . . . and TOGA, of course. There's a list somewhere, but I'm too tired to find it in the handbook. This leads one to wonder why you'd want to exit the APP mode to follow a VOR. If you're landing - you probably wouldn't be switching from an ILS to a VOR.Have fun! Matt Cee
June 3, 201016 yr Once the Loc and GS are captured, you can only exit approach mode using TOGA. Joe Sherrill

Glideslope capture comes pretty late in the proceedings.Peter Peter Schluter

However, some airports it's sometimes easy and convenient to simply "slide over" to another close runway (maybe a parallel). In that case, you wouldn't want the ILS of one runway on and land on another because might start getting glideslope warnings, etc. For example: At Detroit Metro, ILS 22L and 22R, when we checked in with tower on the ILS22R, we'd often request visual 22L. That way we'd have a much shorter taxi to the gate. We'd simply detune the 22R ILS and fly visually. If the other guy was sharp, he'd quickly retune the other runway ILS, but it wasn't required.Good questions. Matt Cee
