Problem with Invisible AI Traffic - Any Suggestions Please

Featured Replies

Apologies if this has been asked before - I did a quick topic search but drew a blank. While reviewing some traffic mods at the excellent 9-Dragon Kai Tak using the MRAI Traffic View Board, I was startled to see the shadow of a 747 taxi past and go to the gate. No aircraft visible mind, just the lights and the shadow. By a process of elimination with the Follow Aircraft feature on Traffic Board, I'm pretty certain it's something to do with the AIA 747-400 GE model (FS9 Upgrade installed) in combination with the Air France texture files but at present can't figure out what. I think I've got the config entry OK as a large proportion of the others seem to show up although there are three models each with the option of relfective and non-relfective effect in that folder.[fltsim.18]title=AIA Boeing 747-400 Air France sim=aia_747_400_gemodel=ge_no_reflpanel=sound=texture=airfrancekb_checklists=kb_reference=atc_id=F-GEXAatc_airline=Air Franceatc_flight_number=1123atc_heavy=1ui_manufacturer=Aardvarkui_type=Boeing 747-400ui_variation=Air Francedescription=A Boeing 747-400 by AI Aardvark designed especially for AI traffic.atc_id_color=0000000000visual_damage=0atc_parking_types=GATEatc_parking_codes=AFRAny helpful suggestions would be most welcome,MTIA Fifty

I would try changing to the reflective model and see if that helps.regards,Joe

N60JBravo, thanks for the suggestion, tried using the reflective model - still no show, except for the shadow and lights when active, that is.Also tried changing to the PW model and as a last resort re-downloaded the ai744upg.zip file and over wrote the model files with the new ones - still not working. The RR and PW non reflectives work OK, plenty of BAW, CPA, NWA, SIA and UAL etc. showing up.Regards Fifty

Check the texture for a missing alpha channel, I seem to recall having such an issue with my AI where an alpha channel was missing. At least I think that was the reason - hey, it's worth a shot :(

Cheers,

Mack

What is the filename for the textures and where did you get them? The plane is most likely invisible because the alpha channel is black and on non-reflective models this will make them transparent instead of shiny.regards,Joe

Finally got it working.I re-downloaded the updated model files yet again, un-zipped and over-wrote the existing files as before. I had previously just dragged the files out of the zip without doing a full un-zip like I've done countless times before.Only difference this time was that the AIA744GE models showd up this time. Looks as though something didn't copy quite right on the previous attempts to set this aircraft up.Thanks for all the reply's and suggestions.Regards to all, Fifty
