June 18, 201015 yr I have a written flight plan from airport A to airport B. Can I take off from airport C, overfly A and follow the FP from that point? C is within 35nm of airport A. Dan George (woodhick)Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.
June 18, 201015 yr No. RC expects to monitor your flight from your point of origination or nearest radar coverage (see next paragraph).RC supports departing a non-controlled airport by simulating a call to FSS and filing. After you are in the air established on your route you can then call departure (which may not exist for that airport) or center and activate the plan. You will have a time limit within to activate your plan.I don't know if it will make it to the RC5 release but filing from in the air is anticipated as in switching from VFR to flight following or controlled flight.
