Smoother performance for mid/lower end computers

Featured Replies

Hi Folks, I have mid to lower end computer and I'm always looking for ways to enable me to fly and enjoy FSX with what I have. One of the easiest ways I've found is simply to increase the zoom level (+ key). I'm sure many of you know about this but I thought I'd send it out for those who may not. In some cases I find my planes start with a zoom of 40 when first displayed in FSX. I've increased it towards 100 or less at times when I'm getting choppy performance and the change is very good. A newer faster machine would be better but for now the zoom trick fits my budget. hope this helps - Howard

I use .50 - .75 in the VC and it works fine.I have a middle of the road PC (getting near the low end of things) and I find as long as I stay out of big cities I can enjoy payware GA with 25-30fps lockedHave you tried Nick N's tweaks?http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041

Haven't tried Nick's tweaks yet but I'll go there now and take a look - many thanks. My machine is AMD 2X64 4200 and does fairly well depending on scenery. I only fly in Orbx scenery in AUstralia and PNW (Pacific North West - US). I find I get better performance in those areas even with my machine.
