June 25, 201015 yr Are there any known issues with TCAS? Seems like the only time I see aircraft on it is on the ground or right after takeoff. While at cruise, I don't see surrounding aircraft on TCAS. This is quite different from other aircraft add-ons where I often see TCAS blips. I always have "Above" selected during climb, "N" during cruise, and "Below" during decent. Thanks,StaceyWinXP SP3FS9 Stacey Weaver Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit Intel Core i7 875K, 2.93GHz (OC 3.6GHz) 8GB DDR3 1600 30GB 2.5" SATA MLC-SSD (Main Boot Up Drive), 1TB (1 x 1TB) SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 7200RPM HDD, 128GB SSD dedicated for FSX NVIDIA GeForce GTX 465 1GB PCI-Express Asetek 120mm Liquid Cooling System 2 x ASUS 24" Widescreen HD LCD Monitor DVI CH Yoke, Pedals, Throttle Quadrant
June 26, 201015 yr The 737NGs (installed the 6/7 and 8/9 which updates the 6/7 or else no TCAS) has been working fine for me. First, and you appear to know, only aircraft with in the specified altitude range will show. Second, you need a good traffic package.Make sure your FSUIPC is up to date from here:http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmlalthough I think PMDG uses a gauge based on TCAS2v7 module for traffic interfacing.Backup your FSUIPC.ini and then check to see this statement is in the General section:TCASrange=00 is the maximum range. Here is a handy free utility that in a table will show AI around you using your FSUIPC:TrafficLook accessory program http://fsuipc.simflight.com/beta/TrafficLook.zipYou run it in a different window outside of FS and you can alt-tab between it and FS or if in a dual monitor setup just drag it to the other monitor. It will start with both air and ground AI visible but if you select either you have to restart it to get both.If the table looks sparse after a few minutes to allow AI to arrive around you after starting FS, then check your traffic package(s) and your FS traffic density.

It should help explain a few things including your question. George Morris
June 30, 201015 yr Author Thanks for the feedback! I scanned through the included information and it appears that I'm using it correctly. I have Ultimate Traffic installed with plenty of AI. I have a feel for the traffic levels as I fly almost exclusively with aircraft sims that have a functional TCAS. I get quite annoyed by how MSFS will send traffic into my flight path (or too close for comfort).I have upgraded my -600/-700 with the -800/-900 so I have the PMDG TCAS. Still, something is not quite right. I can be looking out the window at an aircraft that's at a close altitude/proximity and I won't see it on TCAS...even when I try changing to above/below. On the ground, I see some aircraft symbols, but not all of them (even with mode on above).I'll go through the included information again a bit slower just to make sure I'm not missing anything. In the mean time, if anyone has other ideas, I'd love to hear them. It sounds like this is something that is known to work ok? June 30, 201015 yr Author An update...just made a flight where I received a TA. The yellow aircraft symbol did appear and I heard the audible "traffic", but I only saw the blip while it was yellow. I did not see any other aircraft nor did I see the TA aircraft once it was outside the threat area. Hopefully that provides a clue as to what's going on here.Stacey Stacey Weaver Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit Intel Core i7 875K, 2.93GHz (OC 3.6GHz) 8GB DDR3 1600 30GB 2.5" SATA MLC-SSD (Main Boot Up Drive), 1TB (1 x 1TB) SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 7200RPM HDD, 128GB SSD dedicated for FSX NVIDIA GeForce GTX 465 1GB PCI-Express Asetek 120mm Liquid Cooling System 2 x ASUS 24" Widescreen HD LCD Monitor DVI CH Yoke, Pedals, Throttle Quadrant
July 3, 201015 yr This linked tutorial that falcon999 just provided has your answer about several TCAS setting options using the STYLES menu from the PMDG option dropdown while FS is running with a PMDG aircraft loaded. One of the options is what aircraft is included.Look back a few posts.
