FSX Hanging

Featured Replies

Anyone any idea why using the default 737-800 while looking at the flight position via the Map,in trying to get the Arrival airport ILS+CT frequencies, all of a sudden FSX hangs? Then have to end the FSX session.Event Viewer reveals this to be an AppHangBD1 referring to fsx.exe.Yet,on a much longer 11-hour flight using the PMDG 747-400X,despite using the Map look-up several times to obtain the ILS+CT frequencies,I had no such FSX hang. What gives here? Is it Windows 7 or an FSX problem?Running FSX with SP1,SP2 on a Win7 Pro 64-bit 16GbRAM 1Gb GPU,and no issues with frame rates, etc

Couple of questions.......... 1. Where did you install FSX in Win 7 - under the default "program files" or in a separate folder such as C:\FSGames ?Most people now agree that installing somewhere outside of program files is a very wise thing to do as that minimizes the "security and permission" issues associated with Win 7.2. Have you given FSX "full permissions"? That can be done by Right clicking the shortcut which starts FSX and under the Compatibility tab, selecting "run as adminstrator. That is quite different than you being logged on as adminstrator.Neither of these ideas may solve the issue at hand but it is important tha FSX be allowed to make any changes as may be necessary while "playing the game" without being thwarted by Win 7 security checks.Just some ideas which might be helpful.

Thanks David.1) FSX installed in its own directory as per your previous advice,i.e.C:\FlightSims\FSX or FS92)I have set all permissions to me as the sole user/administrator,so there are no issues thereWhat baffles me is why did I have no AppHangBD1 lock-up flying a 11+hour flight VABB-YSSY using the PMDG 747-400X,yet this happened in the default 737-800 on a much shorter VABB-OMDB flight
