Flights For Pleasure

Featured Replies

Hi folks :) we are a small band of flyers out of secondlife who have been taking to the skies of FSX, we like to fly light planes and enjoy the excitement of landing on small runways and out of the way unusual locations. One of our band is quite experienced and made us a nice flight together near Mt St Helens and in the surrounding area. Group flying is much more fun than flying alone, don't you think? What I would like to ask all you pilots is, is there a site anywhere on the WWW that I can access, one where I can easily get the .PLN files for flights for pleasure? I have seen one site but that seems mostly geared towards large passenger jet and commercial stuff, I'd like to find places where you can fly a tiger moth and suchlike and just gawp at the scenery, hehethanks muchly :)

Greetings,I can't help you on the flight plans, but would be interested in flying with you. We have about 4 of us that enjoy slow single engine planes like the A2A Piper Cub. If you are interested send me a PM.

One thing you might want to take a look at, is the First Class Simulations product, Around the World in 80 Flights, which was reviewed here on Avsim last year by myself.Unlike most real world attempts at a round the world flight, the purpose of that product was to offer a route plan to circumnavigate the globe in FS via the most interesting route, rather than the shortest one, so that the flight would be challenging, but also educational and visually pleasing too. And it does indeed succeed in that aim.You get a couple of add-on aircraft with it too (variants of the twin engined 1930's Lockheed L-10 Electra). These are actually quite nice, despite a minor visual anomaly with the antenna wire on the DF loop. You don't actually have to fly the routes using that aircraft, although for the section across the Pacific, the variant with the additional fuel tanks might prove necessary unless you can find something you like that is small and has that range capability. Just keep in mind that to complete the entire trip is no short term project, as it is definitely geared toward stopping to smell the roses. You can read my review of the product here: http://www.avsim.com/pages/0309/FirstClass/80.htmAl
