Multiple Monitor vs. Single 30" or 40" Videos ?
Zoolander replied to Les Parson's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcGreetings, Drums, I always look forward to our TeamSpeak chats. As you know I am running 3 x 46" small bezel Samsung LED TV's. and as the poster said above, I will also never look back. I am able to adjust the screen to represent the actual size of the gauges in a real cockpit. A real treat. For FSX, DCS, racing sims; splendid. For desktop work, I find I use the center screen most of the time through peripheral applications to the right and left, due to the raw distance away from center. Not a bad thing, just had to get used to it. I don't find the dot pitch to be an issue, but I can see a graphic designer squawking a bit. 40' to 42' seemed to be a sweet spot compromise if dot pitch is an issue. Note key word: Compromise. I have also flown with 55", and, well, that is just excessive FYI: That was a funny, as most people find 46" excessive...or is it?

He developed his interests in parallel becoming an aviation engineer, a pilot and a programmer - eventually blending all three areas together to create an application for pilots. Vroute, originally created as a website for VATSIM divisions that would help pilots in flight preparation, is now 8 years old and has become probably the most extensive public source of flight plans in the world. We welcome Nichal and excited to hear more about his background and Vroute. This is an event you will not want to miss. DigitalThemePark Idaho "Sawtooth" GA Flights
Greetings All, For those interested, DigitalThemePark has another set of GA flights starting. The Rocky Mountains "Sawtooth" Achievement Flights are set in beautiful central Idaho. This set of flights will tour, at and below canyon rim level, the many scenic and narrow river canyons in this area, including the canyons of the Salmon and Snake Rivers. This is a bush country route. Some of the backcountry strips are extremely challenging: very short with difficult approaches. This calls for your best bush plane. The RealAir Scout, the Carenado C185, the Sibwings Birddog would be good mounts. You will need a plane that can take off and land in strips of as little as 1500 feet, climb to 10,000 feet occasionally, and, ideally, cruise around 100 kts. Those who lean toward eggbeaters are welcome to bring their choppers. Do not be dismayed, however. Each leg starts and ends at less challenging airports. Many are not paved, but everyone should be able to take off and land at them without too much trouble. All intermediate airstrips in each leg are optional. Pilots are not required to land at any airport other than the final strip for each leg. Our first flight will be today, Friday, Aug 3rd @ 1p PT / 4p ET (2000 GMT). These flights will be flown as Real time / Real weather / Real Charts. For more details, connect your TeamSpeak to avsim.digitalthemepark.com and someone will be there to introduce you as a DTP citizen. Within the TS channel, on the right side, you will find more details of the route(s) and points of interest. I would suggest getting connected early in order to make sure your headset fully works before the actual flight. We like to be prompt and warm up our aircraft right at the designated time. btw: Feel free to connect anytime. There is always something going on.

Obsession with complexity?
Greetings, One of my self assigned duties at DigitalThemePark is to offer training from the very basics of flying to the complex aircraft. I am far from all knowing, but I can get somebody to the point where they feel comfortable to pick up a flight manual or learn the finer points. I also read up, ask questions, study the material so the information they do receive is accurate. In fact, just today I talked to two Horizon Airline pilots to answer a question. We used to hold, what we called V.PPL, or Virtual Private Pilot License courses. It was the same material you would find if you wanted to learn to fly from a local airport including the written training material one would receive. Attendance was minimal and some nights nobody would show up. I have not discounted the idea that it could have also been the instructor, me, as I can get into some details that others may not care about. I have passion to teach these course, but hard to feel that pleasure of transferring knowledge to an empty room. Now, take our NGX, B17, P40, etc classes and I get asked every day. Mostly how to run the systems, how to start, etc. Not many question or requests for actual raw aviating on these birds. Not sure I know where I was going with this, but maybe just to state what I notice at DTP. I would love to start up the V.PPL courses again, or just jumping in the A2A Piper Cub to teach the basics. Angle of Attack has wonderful video course as well. They are presented in a manner that is informative and entertaining. I highly recommend. Also, some of our events are geared toward GA flying in VFR conditions. So I agree with you Cody on your observation and open to any ideas to get folks excited in all aspects of aviation.

A good A2A B377 CotS specific Navigation tutorial?
Great find. We fly a lot of A2A aircraft at the A2A Flight Club(connection info in signature). Mainly aircraft other than the B377, but several of us own that aircraft, myself included. I would like to fly that with you in multiplayer. I can also help with the VOR Navigation and route planning. I also need a few long haul flights. As part of our DiscoverUS flights, we have a San Diego to Hilo trip coming up that I want to be prepared for. Cheers

A sound problem
Greetings, I had this same issue. It was frustrating, but found the solution that worked for my system. In the Windows sound control panel dialog make sure your spekers are set to the default sound device, your headset as the default communication device. There are 4 tabs at the top of the dialog, select the last tab; I think it is label "communication". Make sure the radio button is selected as none or not to reduce sounds. When ATC talked, it would reduce my other sounds, and this cured it. Of course, if you only have one audio out device, the setting to not reduce sounds, works as well. I hope this is the solution for your system as well. Keep us posted.
