FSX on this gaming laptop..

Featured Replies

Good evening!Ive been ummm and arrr'ing about a new hi spec I7 930 O/C'd & GTX 480 gaming rig over the last few months.. But have decided to put it on hold for 6 or so months til the I7 980's drop down in price or the release a 2. something ghz chip that will allow us to O/C and a 6core chip.Having said all that and my new job position requires me now to have a laptop on site and since I "need" one ive chosen to get this particular model and hope it will FSX pretty well,Here's a link to the machinehttp://www.austin.net.au/ProductList/Produ...SX/Default.aspxIf the link doesn't work here's some specs;Intel Core i7 720QM (1.6GHz, 2.8 Turbo)6GB DDR3500GB HDD 7200rpmnVidia GT360M 1GBWindows 7 Home PremiumAll in all im thinking it will run everything pretty well but I'd definitely like some advice from the greater community with any experiences and or input on to how this will handle of "be-loved" FSXCheersJosh

I have somewhat similar specs on my Asus G73 but a few changes. Same CPU, but mine came with the ATI 5870 vid card with 1GB RAM, 8GB RAM and (2) 500GB 7200RPM hard disk space (luv all the extra room). I'm sure in the laptop world they will probably run similar. I ran FSX a few time on it. Stock setup no tweaks or addons. Plus no no tweaks to the PC either... usually running 40-70 processes on Win7 64 with other programs running while flying so that's pretty good. Could run at 1/2-to maybe 3/4 settings on most sliders with high teen-to-20's settings. Ran smooth. Also I am running at full 1080p. I did get BSOD one time when I ran the water full blown to see the effects, ha! But I am still in FS9 which just eats it up for breakfast.Main concern is heat distribution. I chose Asus for it's excellent dual-port exhaust system. Thing never heats up even an hour running flightsim. But I am also in a 17" case where yours is a 15.6 inch case. Could make a difference.Funny, my work is also giving me a new top end HP laptop so I may end up selling this one and put the money into a new desktop. Overall very impressed with the quality of build with Asus considering I come from the HP camp.Hope that helps.Clutch

Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!)  Windows 10, (hold off for now on Win11),  EVGA 1300W PSU
Netgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displays
Full array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.
