July 22, 201015 yr I went to the Gigabyte site and downloaded the 64 bit drivers for the chipset, NIC, USB 2.0 controller and the onboard sound chip, prior to quitting XP 32 (they are saved on an external USB HD). Now I have installed Win 7 and note (unlike any MS OS before) that directly after installing the OS that there are no uninstalled devices in Device Manager (I assume that we still get the yellow question mark?). I do intend to install a new nVidia display driver that I have downloaded, but is there any point to performance that would be gained by uninstalling / installing the mobo hardware drivers? My mobo is several years old so I have no doubt that MS would have access to valid drivers, although what I'm not sure about is whether they are generic mobo drivers or specifically Gigabyte drivers, and if generic then is there a performance penalty? Thanks for any thoughts. I am somewhat reluctant to fix something that doesn't appear "broken", but also recognize that I changed to Win 7 to get a 64 bit system for performance reasons only (FSX is about all I will use it for, other than some other apps that will not run on my iMac). Thanks, Bruce. July 22, 201015 yr Win7 has a far better support for drivers then previous versions. So you will have a lot less problems to get devices running. If the devices are recognised then there's no need to fix them with the drivers for your mobo.Perfomance gains won't be an issue here. That said, it would be wise to get the video card driver from the videocard manufacturer. The generic driver windows provides has less option then the one from Nvidia or ATI Kind Regards, Tom van der Horst World-of-AI
