July 23, 201015 yr Im going to be observing VATSIM today as new to it, and it says i should file a flightplan even though im observing....Should i still file a flightplan with my Virtual airline?

Most importantly - do not connect to the network until you are parked where you want to observe from...meaning not on the runway, taxiway, or in the middle of a ramp. I usually crank up the cessna, park it on the GA ramp, and connect to the network. Tune the local frequency you wan to listen to, switch to spot view and enjoy. Jeff Hepburn

July 23, 201015 yr LAX is a good starting point to observe... lots of traffic. As mentioned just don't login while you are on a runway/taxiway and you shall be fine.
