July 28, 201015 yr Hi! Before the NGX comes out im thinking about upgrading my computer a little. Im no noob ;) but im surpassed by a lot of you in terms of computer literacy here on the pmdg forums so i thought this would be the right place to ask.My current spec is as follows: E8500 3.3 (OC) 4gb DDR2 RAM, MSI P45 NEO-F mobo (budget but has suited me so far) 4870 1gb, Corsair 550W PSU, 2 HD's (1tb, 1 250gb) and a SB soundcard.FPS in fsx are quite varying from up to 60 in cruise and down to 10-15 in Aerosoft EHAM with 50% ai (WOAI) all in the 747. MD11 is maybe 5fps better in the most demanding situations and the js4100 is, well i never really looked because it ran so smooth but i guess maybe up to 10fps better than 744x.What would be the most bang for the buck upgrade i could do that would make a visible difference but not cost over say 500 euro? I live in sweden where it is quite expensive because retailers here seem to think that the dollar is worth 10 sek (about 10 sek). Can you get cheaper prices from other places in europe? Also if i would upgrade to an i7 it would mean i have to upgrade my motherboard and maybe also have to get a stronger PSU (although the corsair i have is pretty highend, or so ive heard) And would it make a justifiable difference?Any help and advice is appreciated, thanks! :) William GreenCase: CM HAF 922 PSU: Corsair HX 1000W Mobo: ASUS P8P67 Deluxe CPU: Intel i7 2600K 4.8Ghz HT Off GPU: MSI GTX 770 Lightning 2GB RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X 8GB 2133Mhz (9-11-10-28-1T) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 Soundcard: SB XtremeGamer PCI Screen: EIZO Foris FG2421 "240"hz OS: Win7 64
July 28, 201015 yr Most of us is using i7 and I think it's best choice. You don't have to go with the most expensive one, i7 860 or i5 750 after OCing proves to provide enough power for most users (going with i5 is good idea, because there are big chances that while OCing i7 You will turn off HT, changing it into i5...). The good thing about both is that You don't need very expensive mainboard for them, and it's also worth to remember that triple memory channel will not provide additional FPS. The same goes for memory clocks. Don't buy 2000MHz memory as it's simply not worth it (it's proven that high end RAM doesn't have any impact on performance, use google), 1333 is sufficient and You can buy 8GB in price of 4GB (almost).EDIT:You can use MSI Power Calculator to check if You PSU will be sufficient, just remember that OCing CPU takes a lot of additional Watts.

July 28, 201015 yr Author Thanks for the reply, i think ill just wait till the NGX comes and see, right now i have now actual problem with my fps to be honest. Sometimes it spikes and drops making it a bit laggy but i guess that has more to do with me having the fps unlocked. July 28, 201015 yr Use an external frame limiter like FPS_Limiter_0.2 then Thanks for the reply, i think ill just wait till the NGX comes and see, right now i have now actual problem with my fps to be honest.
