External lights problem

Featured Replies

Repairing Acceleration or even FSX itself is completely safe. I'm not 100% positive it will solve your problem, but won't hurt to try

I have suddenly started experiencing a problem with my external lights. It seems that the lights themselves are invisible, even though I can see their effects. For example, the illumination on the tail and rear fuselage caused by the flashing red/orange tailfin light can be seen, but the light itself is INVISIBLE!!Does anyone know what the problem is, and how to correct it?
Lights are FX_2.bmp located in the effects\texture folder and the halo.bmp located in the main texture folder. Check to make sure FX_2.bmp dated 7/26/2006 is there. It appears no program overwrote the halo.bmp but maybe something uninstalled or copied over the FX_2.bmpJim

OMG!! I do not have an fx_2.bmp file in the Effects/Texture folder (only 1,3 and 5)!! Can someone possibly email me a copy of fx_2.bmp to the following address? Should there also be an fx_4.bmp file?Christopher dot Low at btinternet dot comIf this is the cause, then you will have saved me a lot of heartache, Jim :(

Thank you, Dario. That has solved the problem for me!! I owe you a thousand beers when you are next in town :( On a side note, my external (F11) view appears to be locked down. In other words, I can't zoom in and out like I used to be able to do. Does anyone know how to correct that?

I forgot that I had renewed my fsx.cfg file. All I had to do was reassign the "Chase Distance (Increase)" and "Chase Distance (Decrease)" commands to the keys that I like to use (Z and X). I had to reassign one or two other key commands aswell, but that has now been done. For the first time since this morning, I can relax :(PS. You can share the beers with Jim!
