August 4, 201015 yr Hi,I have been running FSX for a while now with a number of complex addons (scenery and planes). I try to keep a reasonably high-spec machine (AMD/ATI-based - reluctant to pay the prices for Intel/Nvidia hardware). As I continually try to tweak to get the most out of my system I can't help thinking that we will never get the 'perfect' FSX system because of the way it was programmed. For example, if I try to run Captain Sim 757 at Heathrow Mega Airport with full sliders parts of the plane vanish - trawling through the internet I discover this may be because there isn't enough memory available (I have Vista64bit with 8Gb of RAM). I conclude therefore that because FSX is a 32bit program it will never be able to allocate itself more than 4Gb, irrespective of what is in my system. Also, more sophisticated graphics cards only offer limited improvement - whenever the improvement is in core clock speed, memory speed or data bandwidth. Any sophisticated development to the actual graphics processing which attempts to use advances in DirectX 11 and above (and other software advances) will have little or no benefit because FSX does not utilise these routines. And finally, I have 6 cores on my AMD processor and yes, FSX can now use multiple cores. But, given that it took a patch for this and the original software was not optimized for such a hardware development I cannot help but feel that the cores will not be utlilized in the most efficient of ways.I have pessimistically reached the conclusion that the ultimate in FSX with lots of AI-traffic, complex aircraft and top-notch scenery may be forever out of reach. What do others think? Am I too pessimistic?Jason.
August 4, 201015 yr for disapearing parts, use the HIGHMEMFIX=1 tweaklet's hope next year AMD bulldozer comes out with backwards AM3 compatibility and it's significantly faster in single core benchmarks. It would be great to have the chance to upgrade our CPU alone for a nice boost, but I wouldn't be too optimistic. Last thing I read is it's going to be like 15-20% faster (too soon to especulate anyway)I don't really care about full sliders. I can live without bloom, and I hate too much autogen or traffic (being 12th in the line for take off is not for me) Hi,I have been running FSX for a while now with a number of complex addons (scenery and planes). August 4, 201015 yr Jason,I'm really close to perfection right now. FPS in the 20's and smooth in NYC with Manhattan X and FSDT KJFK airport. Sliders are set to extremely dense with poor weather. I would prefer 30s. If I overclock to 5 and get faster ram and motherboard, 2 ssd drives in a RAID0, I would be there easily. You don't have to have fps in the 60s. You don't need sliders to the right. You just need the right balance. MSFS
August 4, 201015 yr no man, you won't get more performance out of every possible upgrade. ever heard of bottlenecks?I'm reasonably close to perfection too under those standards... for a reasonable price.stop wasting your money and do your tests. you'll find out that it's 99% CPU power what gives you an edge over a system like mine"balance" is app dependant. and we're talking about FSX here Jason,I'm really close to perfection right now. August 4, 201015 yr oh by the way jose, your sig is a joke. know what you're doing, then help others. anyone can be that "good" at giving advise. "just get the best out there and you can't go wrong"... BS!, that's not helping anyone. where are the facts?

I strive to be the best. Maybe you just settle. It's in your sig. MSFS
August 5, 201015 yr I dare you... dumb down your system. Disable 4 cores, downclock your ram and get it dual channel. no slithen ask yourself how much you paid for an FSX machine and how much for a sigif that's how you live your life then your life is a joke <From Mod-dazz if you wish to remain a member here your attitude better change>
August 5, 201015 yr Dario,Is everything ok? All I'm trying to do is help others. It's people like you who keep people like me away from forums and from sharing ideas.I wish you all the best. MSFS
August 5, 201015 yr just for the record, I was talking about this line in your sig that reads "Aspire to to great, then help others."we obviously disagree on what is "great" or even usefull at allthat's no excuse to be rude on my part. again, I'm sorry

August 5, 201015 yr it looks much better in capitals. good jobso are you going to take the challenge and test your system on dual channel and 2 cores for example?
August 5, 201015 yr You know, it is angry posts like one found in here that really saddens me. We are all human, and we all get agitated from time to time, for I have done much the same thing, even if I can be a bit more subtle about it. However, this provides an opportunity too good to pass up, to say how much I appreciate how diligently DJJose has worked to try to help others enjoy this hobby more. Along with many others who frequent here and other MSFS forums. he has demonstrated the kind of qualities his signature calls for:Aspire to be great, then help others. He is, and he does.Kind Regards,Stephen
August 5, 201015 yr Stephen,Thank you for your kind words. There are members in this and other forums who, because I'm or someone else is friendly, they think that they can be disrespectful.I don't tolerate childishness, rudeness, or a lack of courtesy. I give people a reflection of their attitude and I'm not afraid to keep it real. MSFS
