I have searched for and been unable to find the option for "My Controls" or its equivalent. I have seen from browing other posts that this is where I should go to hide or unhide the forums I can see.Please point me in the right direction.

To the right of your forum Nick is an arrow. Click on it and select My Settings from the drop down menu. On the page that opens, select the Forums tab and you can edit which forums you watch there.

Can you expand on this? I get a "you are not subscribed to any forums" messagethanks Dom

Are you just wanting to see specific forums? If so, you can do that from the main forum page and to the right of each subforum sections name is a - sign that you can click on to close a forum. Once done, you will get a + sign so you can expand it again if wanted. The other way is if you wish to watch a forum or topic.
