June 26, 200223 yr Note this article published on Jun 23, 02 in the NY Times which goes to great pains to suggest that eyewitnesses are not to be trusted.http://twa800.com/news/nyt-6-23-02.htmNow note an investigators rebuttal.http://usread.com/flight587/Reliability/Reliability.htmlMake your own opinions.Cheers,bt
June 26, 200223 yr Just as a side-bar, without reading the article....I attended a NTSB lecture few years back where the two "tin-kickers" expressed the opinon that:The worse eye-witness to interview for an aircraft crash investigation is a pilot. The best eye-witness to interview is a child.Timothy
June 26, 200223 yr Author Very true, lots of research has been carried out into witness reliability. One of my favourites is a study where they showed volunteers a video of a car crash on a deserted country road. There was absolutely nothing to distract the witnesses from the accident, no other traffic, no people, nothing. In the witness accounts, the cars were of all colours, when in fact they were the same (both blue, I think). Quite interesting.Cheers,Gosta.
