August 10, 201015 yr Before I run RC for the first time, I'm trying to rebuild my scenery database. I'm typing in the path where FSX is located, as directed, which is:C:\program files (x86)\microsoft games\microsoft flight simulator x. I've double-checked and this is the correct path.I'm not using a Widefs configuration, and am checking "no" to this question. But I keep getting "run-time error "75" path/file access error"Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.
August 10, 201015 yr First is "(X86)" really in the folder name? I just use XP so can't tell.If you are on Vista or XP be sure you start RC with a shortcut with its advanced properties set to run as administrator. While we are on the subject of scenery db rebuilding be sure you use MakeRunways 4.41 or later which you'll find in the FS 9 section at http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html . It is used for FSX as well. Also grab from that page the latest FSUIPC. The utilities distributed with the RC package are probably not current and there are significant differences.Makerwys.exe gets installed into your FSX folder. It is never run directly but is called from the process started by RC from its folder unless RC is not on the same computer as FSX. Some people have makerwys.exe property set to run as administrator. You also might be experiencing security application issues explained in the pinned topic at the forum head.It also helps during flight issues for FSX to be set with run as admin properties set as well.

The "(X86)" only applies to 64bit versions of Windows OSs, or so I've read. I also downloaded and installed makerunways. It's compiling now but I think it's simply repeating the process already done by RC scenery rebuilding.I'm using the latest registered version of FSUIPC. Thanks againBob
August 11, 201015 yr -------------------snip--------------------I also downloaded and installed makerunways. It's compiling now but I think it's simply repeating the process already done by RC scenery rebuilding.Makerwys version 4.41 is quite a bit different in its processing correcting some issues with scenery priority where afd (afcad type scenery files) files were in the same folder as the rest of that specific scenery files. Previously some scenery layers that deleted runways and taxiways were processed after those that replaced them so RC did not get any of those in its database. Some Flightzone products, for example, had this problem and this version corrected the issue so work-arounds are no longer required. You will not notice the difference in displays as processing continues but the rebuild should be repeated with any version upgrade of makerwys.
