August 18, 201015 yr Hi Awl: When I open the map window I have the keyboard key set to the M button. To close the window I have to hit the escape key or click on the close item with my mouse. Hitting M does not work because when the window opens there is text highlighted in the longitude area and hitting M just places a letter M in the longitude field. The FSX keyboard setup says open/close Map window, so... why doesn't this work using a single keyboard character? How can I make the map open and close with the same key?I want to build some external switches soon and do not want to have 2 switches dedicated to the map alone. Thanks all-Stampee Specs removed.
August 18, 201015 yr If you are going to be adding external switches I am assuming that you are, or will be, using a registered version of FSUIPC. That single utility gives you more power over your FSX controlconfiguration(s) that anything else I've seen.If you have FSUIPC now I would try mapping the map open/close function to another keyor create a series of keystrokes that do the job. In the registered FSUIPC there are several methods to create "conditional" control functions that could be set up to send one key stroke on the first press and a different second key stroke on the next key press. As to your current situation, have you tried assigning "ESC" as the map open/close keyin the FSX Controls menu? August 19, 201015 yr Moderator Using the Esc key would be a bad idea, since it is used to 'close' several other submenu systems, such as the ATC window, etc. :( Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

It's been so long since I had to delve intoany of the default stuff since I have most functions mapped to my X-45and Saitek Pro yoke/dual throttle quads and switches :) Paul
