Silver fusalage after repaint

Featured Replies

I've attempted myself on a repaint of the Wilco A340-600. Now, what I did was basically edit the bitmap in Photoshop, save a new textures folder and of course add that to the CFG. Now, what the problem is, which I can't work out, is that the bitmaps that I have edited, now appear to be a shiney metal colour on the aircraft rather than what I had intended. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Did you edit the bitmaps after you finished ? Sounds like the alpha layer is dark gray or black .DXTBmp is the program to use . As a quick fix I use an alpha layer between 242 ( 242,242,242 ) and 247 for most aircraft . Black ( 0,0,0 ) is shiny , White ( 255,255,255 ) gives a dull surface ( no reflections ) .John

Yeah, there must have been an alpha issue. I've sinced refreshed the alpha, but it's taking a while for any update to appear in FSX right away, which is odd. But I'm getting there.

Another thing I've noticed is, after the edit, the parts of the aircraft that I didn't edit, such as some writing on the aircraft and the outline of the windows, has lost its detail. Looking blury rather than sharp as it were before. Why would this be? Thanks.
