FSX MD-11 Cockpit Sounds

Featured Replies

Hey guys, for some odd reason my MD-11 lost its panel sounds and possibly more. For example, I am not hearing the flap lever moving, spoilers arming, AutoFlight Button engaging autothrust, it sounds like alot of other sounds have stopped playing but If go outside, I hear the engines, reverse, ai planes, ATC. I already completely removed the MD-11 and re-installed it to the latest update, and the issue still exists. I don't really know what to do, as I have never heard or seen this happen to anyone. Any help is appreciated, I want to get my sick MD-11 healthy and back in skies again. If anyone needs to know, Windows 7 64 Bit, FSX Accelerated, Latest Nvidia Drivers following Tabs guide pinned up top. Thanks, Angelo CosmaEdit: This is happpening to the PMDG 747-400 / 800, I don't even hear the Radio Altimeter, or Aural Autopilot warnings on either the 74's or MD-11.

Hi Angelo, There are two common reasons for this problem, both easy to fix.1.) Your headphone or speaker jack is half unplugged.2.) Something reset your sound devices in FSX sound settings. I noticed a couple weeks ago if you unplug and replug in a usb device while FSX is running (any usb device), it can reset this. I have no idea why, but I can reproduce it all the time.Check your sound settings and make sure your card is selected for both sound and voice.sound.gifI'd put my money on #2 being the problem, and bet your sound settings were on <Default Primary Device> instead :wink:It's weird, but like you said, you will get some sound but not call outs and misc things.

Hello Angelo,Since panel sounds and such are handled by PMDGs sound module the problem could originate there. But you said you already re-installed the plane and it did not help? Very strange indeed.Have you recently installed other add-on aircraft or changed your DLL.XML manually? Maybe the PMDGSounds.dll is not loading proberly? The question then would be why.Have you tried the standard routine of (re-)installing Microsoft Visual C++ that comes with the MD11?Make sure you select "Run as Administrator" using Windows UAC. Always install everything FSX related under the same Windows user account.Did you create a ticket with PMDG support yet? This can be done here (Registration required).

Hello,I had exactly the same problem and one of thiese two things fixed it, not sure which because I apply them at the same time, one was adding HIGHMEMFIX=1 to fsx.cfg the other updating the sound driver to 64 bit.Hope it works for you.Jose De Campos

Ok, thanks guys for all the replys, Dan, I did what you suggested for number 2, I told FSX my Voice and Sound to SB Audigy from Default. The problem still exists though same as before,I will try running FSX through my MOBO Sound jack to see what thats like. I did not create a ticket yet, beacause it's sounding like we are getting near the cause of the problem. Also my headphone jack was all the way seated it wasnt half in.Angelo CosmaUpdate: I switched from using my sound card to my On Board mobo sound and installed the latest drivers for it, and now it works like a champ, using the Mobo Sound outputs, IDK about the sound card, oh well this works just as well, thanks again everyone.

Glad you got it sorted Angelo. Stange on the Audigy not working though. I'm sure you tried all the jacks in the back of the card but one other thing it may be is if you have case mounted jacks that adapt to the soundcard. Normally that's fine, but I once I had issues with case jacks that resulted in a similar thing happening where I could only hear mono.Anywho, glad it's working.
