Intel 'Sandy Bridge'

Featured Replies

I've just seen this on the BBC news website about Intel's latest development of merging graphics processing with the CPU into one chipset.http://www.bbc.co.uk...nology-11280200It's the first I've heard of this sort of technology but i'm sure there are plenty out there who already knew about such goings ons.It made me wonder though about the impact this sort of hardware would have on FSX.Adam

surely fsx would go better. I've read on internet the Ghz, would be nearly to 4 ghz. So the overclock could be nearly to 5Ghz.:Drooling: This could give a good boost to fsx!!!Obviously I're read! Nothing sure!!

Rumour is the they will not be overclockable, or just slightly, at least the "low end" 1155 platform. 2011 "enthusiast" chips will be unlocked aparently, but those are not due till Q4 2011

One of the articles on SB at AnandTech: http://www.anandtech.com/show/3922/intels-sandy-bridge-architecture-exposed/1As Dario says, the Core i7 2600K will be available Q3 2011. The K-series of processor will probably have unlocked multipliers. According to Anandtech the Extreme processor i7 980X will be replace by a 990X Q1 2011, but that won't be a Sandy Bridge processor. IMO it's quite obvious that Intel is going for the mid- and low end market with SB. Tough for AMD.

Nah I think it's pointing to the fact they want out of the yeilds game. When you think about it is kind of silly not to mention risky trying to make a whole bunch of Extreme chips from the get go, it should be towards the middle of the product life cycle not the beginning. Given I'm the type of guy that only would buy an i7-920, it's perfect news for me , especially with the unlocked multipliers.
