September 18, 201015 yr Commercial Member Attention FS2Crew J41 "Button Control" version pilots:This quick start guide is for people (like me :( ) who don't like reading manuals. The new interface system used in the PMDG J41 Button Control system is "As Easy As It Gets".What makes it so easy is that the next available checklist item or command in sequence is displayed "in advance", so you this way you always know what's coming next. It's VERY easy and intuitive to use. It's VERY different from the older FS2Crew 'button control' versions.Quick Start Guide:1. Fully disable User Account Control (UAC) if using Vista or Win 7. Google 'how to disable UAC' if you're not sure how to do this. 2. If you own the 'Voice Control' version of FS2Crew for the PMDG J41, uninstall it.3. Install the 'Button Control' version FS2Crew for the PMDG J41.4. Run the PMDG J41 Config Manager (not the FS2Crew Config Manager) and click "SAVE CONFIGURATION". This will make the FS2Crew modified panel.cfg 'active'. (Note: If UAC is not disabled, the panel.cfg file may not get updated when you click "Save Configuration".5. Go to the FSX SETTINGS - CONTROLS menu.6. Assign a Joystick/Keyboard button to “ALTERNATE STATIC SOURCE (ON/OFF)”. This will be your MAIN BUTTON.7. Assign a Joystick/Keyboard button to “CABIN ALERT - NO SMOKING (ON/OFF)”. This will be your SECONDARY BUTTON.8. Load the PMDG J41.9. Left click the center of the Weather Radar Display. The FS2Crew Main Panel should then open.10. Call the PWR button located on the far right end of the FS2Crew panel to power-up the FS2Crew unit (this is something new compared to previous versions). 11. Use the Main Button to run the Checklist/Commands items. Use the Secondary Button to activate any secondary commands as they appear in the Secondary display panel box.12. If you want to run the full Pre-Flight Events (it's optional!), open the FS2Crew CFG panel and press "Run PF Events".--And that's it!Of course there's a lot more, but if you don't like manuals, if you at least follow the first 12 steps you should be able to "wing your way" through it.Cheers, B.
