Tweaks to glean 748 range from sim?

Featured Replies

Edit- Sorry, just found the ref to the SYD/LAX thread for this topic. :( -----------------------------------------Hello all,I'm posting to ask if anyone has found/used any sort of "tweaks" to get true 748 ranges from the sim. I understand (and have no problem with) the -8 necessarily uses the 744 sim. What leads me to this question is that if I begin a flight to a known destination beyond the 744's range I'm inevitably (& correctly) nagged by the FMS regarding insufficient fuel. Certainly I could just add some fuel en route via the PMDG menu, but I'm still dismissing warnings every few minutes.I'm comfortable with .cfg tweaking, etc, and also understand that such editing is absolutely at own risk. Anyone using any other creative methods to trick the system into thinking it's not really a 744? :smile:Dan D.

Now that I see you bring this up, I am interested in what you found. I have not paid too much attention to the 748 since the first few flights I did with it after I first bought it, mainly because it did some things to my FS2Crew installation that I just as figured to not go through again when I reinstalled FSX.Could you help a fellow simmer out and give a link to the thread you mentioned. I did a search on SYD/LAX and got no results.Maybe I could use the 748s extended range to get some long long haul flights done that I anticipate I will want to do with the 772LR when PMDG comes out with their Triple 7.

Hi Scott,Actually I failed to note it's in the 747-400 section (not to mention it's "lax to sydney"). I haven't had a chance to experiment with performing a similar tweak to try to approximate 748 range yet:lax to sydneyDan D

I did this too - now I have the 8000 nm range with FSPassanger set to lux airline and a max of 90 passangers just flew KJFK (FSDreamteam) to WSSS (Imagine Simulations) Awesome!
