Loading the default flight....

Featured Replies

I seem to vaguely recall that the FS2004 startup main menu could be turned off and FS2004 would load the default flight on startup instead. I've checked the box to make a particular flight the default flight repeatedly but when I restart FS2004 I get the main startup menu screen instead. When I go back and click on the name of the flight I had previously made the default flight the check box is unchecked again. Have I messed up FS2004 somehow? Anyhow, if someone could please jog my memory on how to turn on/off the main startup window, I'd appreciate it!

SHOW_OPENING_SCREEN=0(in fs9.cfg, [sTARTUP] section)Also, there's an alternative way of loading ANY flight. Browse to your mydocs\flight simulator folder and just double-click a .FLT file. FS will start up, skip the start screen (regardless of SHOW_OPENING_SCREEN) and load up the flight.

Thanks, kindly, for the tips!
And that box won't be checked next time you look at it, even if it *is* the default flight.
Hum...I could have sworn that back when I got FS2004 (in 2006?) that some one had told me that there was a box you could check somewhere in FS2004's options screens which would cause FS2004 to startup with the selected default flight, bypassing the normal startup screen...maybe I was just having a senior moment...a bit early, I'm only 54, but you never know (G)! That or I'm confusing FS2002 with FS2004?

Actually, come to think of it, I seem to recall FS2004 initially starting up with the selected default flight. Another senior moment?
