Setting up a scenario from CYYZ 15R to KSFO with the Pearson 9 departure.Pearson 9 for 15R has 6.3% up to 3000, Rwy heading to 7.9 YTP MNM 3000.Looks like radar vectors to the first waypoint on the route ARTHR ~40nm west.Does anyone have programing advise or SOP for the FMS from the MANUAL line to ARTHR?I would assume hand flying or speed climb/heading on AP until a "cleared direct" is issued would be how it's handled?Anything to watch for leaving the MANUAL line blank on the right?Interested in anything y'all have to say. Also - would a PBD Waypoint, say YTP / 147 / 7.9, be the right thing to enter in place of the MANUAL waypoint? Capture.jpg Thanks.. Bob BernsteinKMEM

A pbd waypoint would work in this particular case as no atc is available to give you vectors unless you are an online flier.John Ellison

Hello Bob,[[Pearson 9 for 15R has 6.3% up to 3000, Rwy heading to 7.9 YTP MNM 3000.]]To judge if you can make this restriction, companies provide their pilots with additional performance information to comply with these restriction.The MD11 being a very good 'climber' I would not bother about this restriction too much.Regarding the FMS route:Nothing has to be changed in the FMS-page as shown. Manual data line is empty, which is logical, cause it is not known how long and to what altitude the vector (by ATC) will take.Because of the vectoring after Take-off the Lateral mode will be Heading.For the Vertical mode you can arm PROF.After Take-off do the acceleration/clean-up and follow the (ATC) headings.Once cleared direct to, use the DIR INTC button to follow the (ATC) clearance, and engage NAV.Regards,HarryEHAMQuestion? There is no 'Discontinuity' between the Manual and the En-Route part of the flightplan. This should be the normal presentation. Do you remember if you cleared this disco?
