  1. Same situation with FS2FF. Please post if you find a solution. I'll do the same.
  2. The plane does run out of fuel on the outboard tanks and so we have no choice but to select the inbooads. Tried using crossfeed during the process - but no luck.. Oh well. If anyone knows something more .. please post. Thanks.
  3. Is there a way to get from the outer tanks to the inner tanks without killing the engine passing through the middle position? You have to be lightning fast and accurate with the mouse and still the engine starts to choke before I get there. Is there a shortcut I'm missing? Thanks...
  4. Hi everyone. I would like to re-highlight this message from Mike as the fix for me. I had the same problem today with fuel consumption. I left KSFO for RCTP with a prediction of 39k remaining and now I'm 1000 miles out with a prediction of 5k. (lbs). The plane was struggling to reach cruise speed and altitude and I attributed it to warm pacific temperatures that ASN possibly missed. Yesterday, before the flight, I had re-calibrated/mapped my flaps and speed brake using FSUIPC. I also had a speed brake alert during takeoff and I used the / key to retract it fully. I've been searching all morning in the forum for potential solutions, and Mike's post stopped me in my tracks. I removed the mapping of the flaps and speed brake a minute ago, and my speed jumped up and my N1 dropped down. Fuel prediction just went from 5.5 to 8.0. This may not be the solution for all, but it was for me and I thought it was worth highlighting since his post is 3 pages back. Thank you Mike!
  5. Exactly the words we needed to hear. Thank you.
  6. Dear Dovetail - he's just kidding. It's not a good idea.
  7. One big hint that broke my FPS loose - I turned off hyperthreading in the bios and removed affinitymask from my P3D.CFG. Setup=i7 6700k @ 4.4 w/ GTX 970. P3D 3.3 is running at max settings except with LOD @ 4.5. FPS is 40-unlimited in almost every geo w/ FTX Global/Vector and tons of other stuff. 5 cloud layers in ASN. FPS in the cockpit: http://prntscr.com/bl92mp FPS outside the cockpit: http://prntscr.com/bl92hn
  8. David - great non-contribution. Posts like yours are 10x more annoying than any redundant or off-topic question. Dom - I believe, and I didn't read every word of their announcement, but continuing to support the product would cost them more time and money than they could ever make, even with a blowout sale. If they continue to sell, then they need resources to support. And you should stay away from download copies. They are pirated/illegal, most likely have trojans, and it will mess up your FS install. There's another payware 747 on the market for FS9. Not sure on the MD-11.
  9. 3.3 has some issues with the default scenery bleeding through add-on sceneries and causing flickering. You might check this thread to see if you want to deal with this or not. http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6312&t=119544
  10. Is it possible the FSX or P3D version could be released on different dates? Not a big deal, but it would be painful hearing from everyone else how great the product is.... meanwhile....
  11. Regarding sim performance. It doesn't matter if you have FSX or P3D, if you don't keep your installation clean, and you're always tweaking and installing and removing things without cleaning up the traces, your performance and stability is going to degrade over time. A lot of instability is self-induced. I know a lot of people who are constantly doing Frankenstein projects by merging panels and modifying .cfg and .dll files all over the place, then come out and say P3D or FSX is unstable on their system. High-end hardware is the most stable solution for FPS. On the A320 and PMDG Boeings, they are both great and once you let go of the "Boeing vs. Airbus guy" hangups, you'll enjoy flying whatever your mood decides. My mood for an aircraft is usually determined by whatever Youtube cockpit video I just finished watching.
  12. Downloading and reinstalling the FSDreamteam standalone add-on manager cleared up my issues.
  13. It would also be great to leverage what they learned from the MD-11 and apply it to a 717 which is still going very strong as well. And the 757/767? ... I dream about a PMDG version over my cereal every morning.
  14. Don't do it Stefan! :Shame On You: I upgraded to a i7 6700k and P3D 3.1 on a SSD. Do you know that feeling when you get a cheat code for your favorite game and then suddenly it's not fun anymore? No CTD's, no tweaking, no random lockups, no popping graphics, no stuttering .... all I do now is fly. I'm so lost in my spare time now. Beware! If you're anything like me, it could ruin everything for you.
  15. Mike - There is a very detailed explanation somewhere in this forum by PMDG regarding their approach to P3D from a legal/liability standpoint and a bunch of other things that would bore you to death but was understandable and convincing enough to calm my initial reaction. A few months of store-brand vs. name brand cereal and I had the PMDG P3D versions paid for and in my hangar.
  16. Fair enough Rick. Since the release of SE, a whole new crowd of simmers (or gamers) have arrived. Like Keven mentioned above, the support headache (and cost) could be a nightmare. Watch some of the youtube videos these guys are making. It's horrifying. I do understand the OP though. I have sons and steam credits are given to them by a lot of relatives as gifts. Credit purchases would be easier than begging parents to take out the credit card. Especially if the parent isn't a simmer and has no idea who PMDG is.
  17. Rick, I've been following PMDG closely since Fly! and still don't feel entitled to speak on their behalf. 3 years ago my company didn't produce smartphones because 'common sense' said there wasn't any room in the market. Now they are 30% of our revenue and growing. Common sense tells me if there's a potential market, it should be explored. With that said, I highly doubt Steam/Dovetail is a good or very profitable deal for PMDG, but I don't work there and I don't have a regular tee time with Robert. The question by the OP is legit and I don't think it lacked common sense. It was merely a poke to see if PMDG might have or might be considering it because the OP thinks there are more young customers like him out there with steam credits to spend. I thought it was a good question. You slammed the door on him like you know something we don't.
  18. Since you were in that meeting when the decision was made, could you share the reason why? I believe "why" was the question...mixed with a general statement that it would possibly increase sales. The rest of us outsiders can only guess that it's a margin/support,legal issue or just something that no one had time to explore. Please share more.
  19. For P3D users that want the MD-11.... you can still use the MD-11 for many many more years. Here's how I did it. I ran the MD-11 installer, but rather than putting it in P3D, I put it in my new (and very inexpensive) copy of FSX. It worked like a charm. And my lawyer approved of the solution. Try it and enjoy many years of this remarkable aircraft.
  20. I think if this poll came out after the release of the 747 v2, it would be a much tighter race with the 737 and 777.
  21. I think the A320 market is a little crowded, and even if PMDG came out with one fully optimized using their latest techniques, I don't know if it would be enough for people to drop what they have and switch. If you look at what operators are flying today, the FS market is still missing a current or detailed 757/767/787, A330, A340, A350, MD88/90/717. Sure there are a few out there, but they are either aging or over simplified. More A320's and 737's aren't really necessary..... in my opinion.
  22. I had to make sure the mic switch was yellow near comm1 on the radio panel. Only then could I transmit on vpilot.
  23. would these simconnect issues be a valid reason for erratic vnav behavior in the 777? The behavior in v3 has been very -unPMDG-ish.
  24. For what it's worth, I've been struggling with FTX Global Base issues and 777 issues since v3 on what is normally a very stable setup. Despite getting super high performance from v3, I've had stability issues with all kinds of LOD settings. I think you're on to something Lee. I have tomorrow off, so I deleted everything from my HDD (v 2.5, FSX SE, v3.0) including appdata, programdata, documents etc.. and cleaned my registry. v3 is being installed under the cleanest possible conditions I could make. I'll fly the 777-200/300 on several legs before I add in Global Base, then I'll give them both a good workout tomorrow and over the weekend before I start adding in my other 3rd party apps. Let's see if these two get along, because I suspect they don't. I'm on Windows 10 x64. I'll follow the topic since I've been troubleshooting this as well. Thanks for posting.
  25. Joe - what does hydraulic pressure do for you on a windy day? Do the control surfaces stiffen up so the wind isn't pushing them around?
