October 29, 201510 yr In P3D V3, it might be possible that the reason the VC doesn't respond to the mouse on occasion, requiring a manual re-isntallation of Simconnect, is because of the ORBX installers. I've noticed a pattern this week that my PMDG VCs are working fine and then they suddenly stop working, always right after the install of a new ORBX scenery. Once the simconnect is manually re- run and re-installed, everything is fine. There must be something that the ORBX installer does to Simconnect that alters it for PMDG. Anyone else notice this, or is it just my set up? Otherwise, everything is working great. Just a thought to look into... Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090

I don't have P3Dv3 on my computer just yet because I've been in X-Plane so much, but I'll pass it on to the team. Kyle Rodgers
October 29, 201510 yr For what it's worth, I've been struggling with FTX Global Base issues and 777 issues since v3 on what is normally a very stable setup. Despite getting super high performance from v3, I've had stability issues with all kinds of LOD settings. I think you're on to something Lee. I have tomorrow off, so I deleted everything from my HDD (v 2.5, FSX SE, v3.0) including appdata, programdata, documents etc.. and cleaned my registry. v3 is being installed under the cleanest possible conditions I could make. I'll fly the 777-200/300 on several legs before I add in Global Base, then I'll give them both a good workout tomorrow and over the weekend before I start adding in my other 3rd party apps. Let's see if these two get along, because I suspect they don't. I'm on Windows 10 x64. I'll follow the topic since I've been troubleshooting this as well. Thanks for posting. Bob Donovan - KBOS
October 29, 201510 yr Commercial Member requiring a manual re-isntallation of Simconnect Can I ask which version do you have to re-install please, Lee? Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
October 29, 201510 yr Commercial Member you are re-installing microsoft.esp.simconnect? Remember you said "requiring a manual re-installation of Simconnect", I would like to know which version(s) of Simconnect you needed to re-install? Or did you just need to re-install P3Dv3? Many thanks. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
October 29, 201510 yr Author No, the simconnect that comes with P3D V3. There is a read me in the PMDG install for V3 zip file that troubleshoots problems, and there are steps there to rectify PMDG installation problems in P3D V3. Their simconnect instructions work for me everytime the clickable VC fails to load properly. I am pretty sure its a 3rd party installer that seems to alter the P3D simconnect set up. I think it might be one of the ORBX installers. Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090

I think it might be one of the ORBX installers. You had to re-install: redist\FSX-SP2-XPACK\lib Thanks Lee. Although P3D v 2/3 installs simconnect v1.0.20.0, it remains compatible with all the variations for FSX: esp.simconnect: 1.0.20.0, Simconnect.dll: 1.0.195.0 <- installed with P3D v 2/3 flightsimulator.simconnect: 10.0.60905.0, Simconnect.dll: 6.2.60905.0 <- FSX RTM flightsimulator.simconnect: 10.0.61242.0, Simconnect.dll: 6.2.61355.0 <- FSX SP1 flightsimulator.simconnect: 10.0.61259.0, Simconnect.dll: 6.2.61637.0 <- FSX SP2 A lot of addons built for operation on P3D v2/3, and FSX SP2 and FSX-SE, use FSX SP2 61259 because it works across all those versions. There's no need to remove any versions of Simconnect. If there's a problem it can only come from a client program calling the interface. October 29, 201510 yr would these simconnect issues be a valid reason for erratic vnav behavior in the 777? The behavior in v3 has been very -unPMDG-ish. Bob Donovan - KBOS
October 29, 201510 yr Commercial Member Maybe. What I always do is install P3D and then install all three simconnect versions from redist\FSX before installing addons (RTM, SP1, SP2). Then when I install the PMDGs and any other addons that use those versions of Simconnect, they work out of the box. There's no worry about how many you have installed. If a particular version appears to cause an issue and the issue is resolved after removing a simconnect file, then by definition, the client that is no longer connecting would be the source of the error. What Lee describes is, after having installed ORBX he finds that 61259 needs to be installed to get things working again. I suggest describing that problem to ORBX support would be a good idea. February 4, 201610 yr After reinstalling the three sim connect versions check your task manager for any lingering simconnect processes and end them, either that or reboot. If you have already run P3D chances are the processes will still be there. I do wish PMDG made their aircraft compatible with the latest sim connect versions that get installed with the likes of Active Sky Next! Hope that helpsDave Dave Etheridge
February 4, 201610 yr Commercial Member I do wish PMDG made their aircraft compatible with the latest sim connect versions that get installed with the likes of Active Sky Next! If a program that isn't the sim is installing something SimConnect-related, then it's not the "latest version." Those would only be released by LM with each sim build/update (and would, therefore, be installed as part of updating the sim, which would mean that any other versions installed by devs are legacy versions for compatibility). If anything, they're just doing the same thing we're doing, but doing it through their installer, and not asking you to do it manually. Kyle Rodgers

February 13, 201610 yr How do I reinstall simconnect? I am running QW 757 and have issues with the FMC. Are you running Windows 10? If so your issues are from a missing font, not simconnect. Search the QW forum for a link to the font download.
