  1. I can be a lot of things, but ignorant isn't one them. You may want to choose your words wisely next time. I stated, and now for the record that I ENJOY UK2000's airports, because they are lightweight, provide decent detail and are not detrimental to the sim. If issues arise, Gary is very quick to address and respond. I only wish there were more developers that pay that kind of attention, instead of getting snarky comments back at the users, eluding that the users did something wrong or the other well known stance that "Our products do not produce issues and are working perfectly fine on our end". When I said that i had regret, it was due to the fact that I have gotten away from P3D, and having UK2000 airports at my disposal was a big plus for me. Hopefully that clears things up. Sigh...
  2. FSDT has much better detail and with the GSX functionality, it is a worthy add-on. I once subscribed to Aerosoft's credits for AES, but found it expensive.
  3. Funny how I never mentioned personal experience with Aerosoft Support, yet you felt it necessary to put words in my mouth. On top of that, what I wrote was supposed to be sarcastic comedy and yet again, you took every single letter literally. Anyways, anyone else have something constructive to talk about?
  4. Carefully read my post again. I wasn't bashing UK2000, actually, just the opposite.
  5. Aerosoft Support...two words that don't belong together, kinda like trusted lawyer or jumbo shrimp. UK2000 airports is one of the top reasons why I regret not using P3D these days. I love Gary's work and he's a great guy to work with for support.
  6. Insults get you nowhere Bob. I see respect is right out the window.
  7. Water? You mean I've been drinking water this whole time? Wow, I thought it was vodka. Well I guess I owe you a huge apology. I had no idea you were so high in the ranks. Man, and to think this whole time I'd been talking to an expert. Come to think of it, I've visited your site and followed your settings for P3D. Unfortunately, those settings didn't work for me.
  8. And I really don't care. Yet another "expert" out there, driving capitalism.
  9. With all due respect Rob, not many common folk are aware of these extras. Well, i should say that they really wouldn't be looking for things like this. You statement about the NDA clause...do you work for LM? Why did you sign an NDA? Furthermore, what is the point to bringing something like that up? This is like a zookeeper telling a pride of lions "oh yeah, I know what you're getting for dinner, but I can't tell you what it is, although it could be meat".
  10. ZDNet? Taken with a grain of salt....
  11. Here's a more productive question: why would a company like Lockheed Martin, buy a portion of Microsoft's Flight Simulator, only to maintain it at 32-bit? They have to realize by now that 64-bit computing is a veritable goldmine to be tapped in to. I mean, if LM is in the biz to produce high-quality flight simulator software, why didn't they jump on 64-bit a long time ago? X-Plane has been doing it for a while now and FSX, while produced by DTG, is moving forward with 64-bit to. What is taking LM so long, or were they only using the ESP rights to create a base to which they can move forward into 64-bit? It almost seems like every time LM releases a version, people get bent out of shape that there wasn't a move forward to 64-bit and so after a release, people spend time in between releases, clamoring for 64-bit. If the vast majority of flight sim users are already working in a 64-bit environment, with higher end systems, plenty of physical memory to handle the demands of 64-bit, then why can't they just come out and say "yes, we are currently working on a 64-bit version"...that sure would satisfy me, as I am sure a lot of others. Sorry, this was totally a rant. There isn't enough time in the day to keep up with every single discussion in the FS world, so when this topic springs up, I gotta see what's going on.
  12. Conspiracy theories aside, in the computing world, it's all about progress. Didn't we just go through all of this when MS decided to end all support for XP? If you read the trades, you'll see the word "fragmentation" come up in discussion. I can wholeheartedly agree that fragmentation is causing problems for software developers because they have to staff people to help fix issues users have with older (legacy) products. For devs to save time and money, they want to close that gap. As far as businesses using Enterprise, my company is not one of them, and it's part of a huge global construction conglomerate. Don't forget about Apple and Linux too, but we aren't here to debate numbers. The OP just wanted to know if there was any performance benefit switching from 7 to 10. To clarify my original statement about that, while there isn't any appreciable difference, it isn't to the negative, meaning that 10 doesn't make things worse.
  13. If I look any more careful, I'll break the screen. Sorry, not seeing it....moving on.
  14. Was the reply to the quote you made from me, directed to me? Not sure how to respond.
  15. What was this application supposed to do? I did a search online for them and it turned up zero products. Did they jump ship and take everyone's money?
  16. I was in your shoes and I can honestly say that I saw no real performance difference going from Win7Ult to Win10. I was able to get Win10Pro last year and after installing everything I had before, including all my sim content, plus running it, everything seemed the same. You may be future-proofing your system by upgrading (plus it's still free to upgrade rather than shelling out $120 later) but as far as better performance, I believe that is left to the application and not the OS. P3D v3 runs very well these days but I couldn't attribute that to Windows 10, that honor goes to the those who work on the application.
  17. Thanks Kyle, that's exactly what I was looking for, good concise explanations. Now that I know what I know, I am looking forward to this more.
  18. I couldn't agree more Christoper. Out of all the airports I current use, from different developers, UK2000 airports are the most sim-friendly. Last I saw, Gary is still feverishly busy developing new airports and re-doing some too. I am looking forward to the new Gatwick myself. This is probably the reason why I fly more often in the UK than anywhere else, both for GA and tubeliner flying.
  19. I am rather familiar with PMDG's capabilities. I have the 747, 737 and 777 from them. I was just looking for a little further insight from the PMDG team.
  20. I am making an attempt here to ask a very intelligent question about the differences in the two flight models. Has PMDG found in their research and development, significant differences between the two, in terms of flight dynamics, as well as internal systems? With the tech testing currently going on, will the user see differences in how the two are set up? I own, but cannot install the the original Queen of the Skies 747, but never bought the expansion, which was just an external model change, so will the new v2 versions be completely re-worked and will the 8 series be a totally separate aircraft model? I am also curious if PMDG will adhere to the current market and have liveries created for both models that match what is flying right now. For example, I see the Lufthansa 747-8 fly overhead everyday, and I know that's the passenger version, but will we see all of the cargo versions too? My apologies if I made no sense whatsoever.
  21. Took the words right out of my mouth Ray. Yes, Windows likes to sneak in updates that CAN cause a serious hang on the OS and you have to perform a hard shutdown to get your system to come back up and then Windows may try to re-download critical updates (especially Patch Tuesday updates). MS seems to get more sneaky with their updates now, with no notification. If and when you get your system back up to the desktop, check the event viewer to see where errors may have occurred, but I suspect it could have been due to those pesky updates being downloaded and installed, or at least attempted to be installed and maybe even failed. At work, I sued to keep my machine on all the time, but performed a reboot at the end of my work day. Even doing that, did cause occasional hangups which I had to rectify with a hard shutdown.
  22. What are your sim settings set at? if you have your settings too high, it can cause a crash. Also, you had not specified any other add-ons (aside from Aerosoft's Airbus X) installed into your sim. Both settings and add-ons can cause a strain on a system. If you have the Airbus X installed, did you change the rendering option in the config? If so, put it back to the default. I changed mine once, thinking it would make for better performance, and I had issues.
  23. Oh my God, I'll have to write this down in my journal, someone actually agreed with something I said! Saints be praised! Wooohooo! Have you ever tried goat herding? You stand out in a field (P3D) with 50 goats (add-ons), all standing around aimlessly eating. They're good strong and impressive goats, and they know what they want to do, but it conflicts with what you want them to do. So, you grab a prod and start poking the goats. They get upset, start running everywhere else, so you in turn start chasing them down, but that doesn't work. Next, you grab your dog and his name is Tweaks. You send Tweaks out there to herd up the goats and get them to do what you want, but Tweaks would rather sit in the shed and sleep. Your day has just been turned upside down and you think to yourself "wow, my field was much better looking and more impressive and strong without the goats". Point being, leave your beautiful field as it is. Send the goats into your neighbors field and enjoy yours as it is. You can maybe add a little fertilizer and water (settings changes) to your field and before you know it, you're smiling and happy with how your field turned out.
  24. Complet3D...I like that, but how about: Repair3D (Microsoft might get offended) Prepar3D64 (Nintendo might take issue with this one) Be-Prepar3D (to shell out a ton of cash for this!) Regardless of the name, you'll still have to pay.
  25. P3D without any add-ons provides the best performance, bar none.
