September 11, 200322 yr I recently just started to download different airport scenery and for the last 3 times I flew to the airports that had the scenery the plane was not capturing the ILS (it works every time with a default scenery). Is it a diffenert way to capture the ILS with a downloaded scenery than with a default scenery?
September 11, 200322 yr there isn't, but maybe the beacon isn't working properly (or IS working properly but isn't in the default scenery).
September 11, 200322 yr Author Hmmmmmmmmmmmm I guess I will have to practice at those airports that have the downloaded scenery.
September 11, 200322 yr Normally if the add-on scenery is an airport that mimics real life layout and location the ILS beacons will not match the default FS ones.If this is not corrected by the scenery author you could end up with the default ILS beacon 'shining' in one direction and the add-on runways pointing in another so there would be no way you do a full instrument approach and hit the runway. To correct this problem scenery designers include beacons within the BGL files so that they align with the runways and these beacons overide the default ones so that the ILS system works as it should. If you have problems I would suggest 3 things.Make sure the scenery is for FS(, or at least compatibleMake sure you installed the scenery correctlyCheck the readme file for any special instructions such as adding exclude lines to the scenery.cfg fileLook on the forums to see if anyone else is having problems with the scenery. If all that fails email the author and explain politely that you think you have a problem and could he/she offer advice.HTH
September 11, 200322 yr Author I looked in the readme files of the airport scenery to see if it mentions anything about the ILS, and they didn't. I checked the forums to see if anyone else is having trouble with the scenery, and didn't find anything. So maybe I just did the ILS approach wrong those times.
September 11, 200322 yr Joseph,Let us know which airport and which version of FS and maybe one of us 'old lags' can help.
September 11, 200322 yr or,if you flew there by means of gps navigation(i.e,you flipped the gps/nav switch, and let the gps fly the plane to the airport:make sure you disengage the nav/gps switch->put it in nav, because otherwise lots of strange things can happen, including the very thing you describe ;-)hih
September 11, 200322 yr Author >Joseph,>>Let us know which airport and which version of FS and maybe>one of us 'old lags' can help.It was FS2002 and the scenery was:Warsaw Okecie (EPWA19b_f.zip) by Mark Sikorski using a FeelThere ERJAlicante (LEAL2003.zip) by M.A P
September 13, 200322 yr I have tried 3 of those airports Joseph and I can assure you that the ILS beacons are correctly aligned. However runway 28 at LEAL and runways 29 & 15 at EPWA are back course approaches.Usual causes of missing the approach are, too fast, too high and trying to intercept at an angle more than 30 degrees off the approach course.BTW If you like flying around Spain try the LEPA scenery from Oliver PabstHTH
