October 11, 201015 yr I wanted to have "airport" labels on some terrain landmarks, so I thought of just creating a minimal airport (location) in hopes that a label would appear above it. ADEX created the airport and gave me a tower viewpoint - that was neat and I am happy to have that - but no label appeared above. I don't actually want anything that would create a flatten for the hill top but wondered if anything else would do the trick. I am going to start the experimentation phase shortly, of course, but any ideas to speed the process would be welcome.Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro

October 11, 201015 yr Author The label will display in Top-Down view but not in other views for some reason.Well, it seems that labels only DISPLAY when your viewpoint is AT or ABOVE the runway elevation. So my new "airport labels" can be seen from 'on high' but not from down in the valleys. Not perfect, but I'll take what I can get.Adding a helipad (transparent) at the airport did the trick. There was no flattening, and no evidence with either fixed or rotary-wing that there was anything there at all - just a small circled "H" could be seen from above to indicate the landing area. And the label overhead so long as I am high enough.Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro
October 12, 201015 yr Author "Final" UpdateSince there was no evidence of any 'hard surface', I moved the airport position to 1400' below the peak and set the tower viewpoint at 1450'.This also worked fine. I still have to be 'above' the airport to see the label, but now it is only a hundred feet above the surface instead of 1500' and my needed altitude is lower; and I don't see the "H" Helipad indicator because it's below ground.Less than perfect, but a workable solution; and I have all these new 'camera views' of the area.BTW, since these airports need ICAO codes... There are NO 4-character "Q" series airports at all in FSX; this means you can freely use Q000 to QZZZ without worrying about a conflict - that's more than 46,000 available codes.Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro
