Payware Australian scenery?

Featured Replies

I and looking for airport scenery of Perth and Melbourne. I found a freeware scenery of Melbourne, but I didn't like it that much and didnt find any scenery for Perth. Is there any payware products for these airports?

There are a few files for Perth for FS2002. Trevis Lawton has done two versions of the CBD; and Michael Pookbooncherd, who lives there, has done Perth City. Claude Schmidt has done the airport as freeware in great detail and several other significant airports in Australia, including Port Hedland which is a nice little jaunt up the coast from YPPH.Sorry to hear you don't like the Melbourne scenery, though. There's some great stuff out there for the whole of the Victoria and NSW regions; particularly if you load up the SATPAC mesh and make sure you have landclass installed. There are plenty of Aus flightsim sites, as you must know, that list all this stuff. If not, shout.Mark "Dark Moment" BeaumontP.S. When you say 'neglected', John, I guess that you mean by the payware boys. The amount and quality of freeware scenery for Australia is more than anyone could expect, in my view. Particularly, in the Sydney area; there are excellent renditions of many local airports in that area for VFR flying.http://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

I liked the Melbourne scenery(ymml2003.zip) itself (the buildings and stuff) but I didn't like all the static aircraft put into the scenery. They looked out of place (like the Ansett new colors L1011 static plane)

Mark, when I say neglected I do mean by payware guys such as Simflyers :) You're right, there is some excellent freeware scenery for some areas of Australia. But I'd like to see some capital cities done.Sydney isn't too bad in FS2004, FS2002 was pretty neglected, Samsofts version was pretty ordinary IMO. Adelaide and Brisbane have some excellent freeware airport and city scenery available, but most other areas aren't covered with any decent detail. There is a nice Coolongatta, I know of the Melbourne & Perth scenery for the CBDs, but alas there is no good scenery for those airports. Kudos to Claude Schmidt for trying to create some airports, but they're way off the mark in accuracy sadly :(Jeff Stayner is working on a nice YMML, but its going to be a while before completion. That leaves places like Canberra, Perth, Townsville etc etc.

Cheers,

John Tavendale

Yup, like the piddling little farm/paddock boundaries. Looks like something out of pommyland in the middle of the WA bush. Also a more general thing with the night textures for roads in the middle of the desert :-)Pity PC Aviator chooses to do somewhere else but home first. I guess its all about the dollars. I don't know why they would want to get into an already crowded market whereas Oz would be all theirs if they did something decent.Cheers and thanks for the pics Steve.Chris Porter:-outtaPerthWestern Australia
