Water parking?

Featured Replies

I'm working on a seaplane base in FSX. Specifically, Helms Aero Service in Long Lake, NY. I'm using AFX and Instant Scenery. I want to place at least one parking space at a dock so you can start from the dock, taxi out into the lake and take off, rather than starting on the water runway. I place a parking space in AFX, set it's properties as Dock Parking. As soon as I reload the scenery in FSX I get the message "This program has stopped working" and FSX closes. If I remove the parking space and restart FSX, it works normally. I can duplicate this error every time I try to add a parking space. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks,Jim

Is the parking space properly connected via a taxiway network to the runway or have you just added a parking space?

I just adsded a parking space. Didn't think about a taxiway. I'll give that a try. I haven't worked on a water airport before. :)Jim

Jim,See this discussion about AI and water. I also saw a mention of an orphan parking spot causing a CTD, but another poster said they placed parking spots unconnected without any problems. Maybe a start location is all that's needed?http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10139&highlight=water+runwaysGuess it helps to remember to show the link... :(

Were you intending to link to a thread about AI and water? If so, no link is showing.

Water airports are quite different than land airports.I have not done any in FSX but in FS2004 the taxiways had to be of concrete texture - not water as one might expect - and they can be made invisible (who wants to see concrete on water) by setting their width to 0 (zero).I would presume the same "tricks" work in FSX also.

If this is for a user aircraft, you do not need a parking space, just set a start point at the required place.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll work on it this evening and report back. :)Jim

Since this is for the user aircraft to start at the dock, I used GHD's suggestiong and just moved the start point to the dock and it works perfectly. Thanks a lot!Jim
