PMDG and GPS

Featured Replies

I am planning on a new and first add-on from PDMG, probably the 747. I was wondering if any PMDG add-on's or any provider includes GPS. This question belongs in the Navigraph forum as I am not sure that GPS approaches are included in the Nav databases.Help me understand. Thanks,Brad Rich

Welcome to the PMDG forum. First of all, please have a look at the forum rules. They are posted here. The PMDG 747 is modeled after the real aircraft and as such uses Inertial Navigation and GPS. It does not have the default GPS from FSX however, if this is what you are asking. The Navigraph data is very thorough and usually contains all possible procedures for the majority of airports. Regards

They are included normally. All the main airports in the world, and some secondary, have their procedures in the Nav databases. You´ll just have to download an file from Navigraph that is made especially for PMDG planes (each add-on company has it file) and is realeased once a month (in the FMC, on the Identification page, you can see the valid period for the nav data you have installed).

Yes, you can preform RNAV (GPS) approaches with the 747 (And I think all the others). But if you are looking for a real GPS, like the Garmin you find in all the stock aircraft, no, there is no G500 in The Queen.

Thanks and yes, this is good news. I am currently flying another brand x wide body that has no GPS. I will purchase the PMDG 747 tonight and look forward to participating in the forum.Sorry about the signature miss. Thanks,
