Autobrakes not working

Featured Replies

I always wondered why my MD-11 needs heavy manual braking even with the autobrakes selector set to high. It took a long time until my brain considered the possibility that the autobrakes fail completely because of some reason currently unknown to me.I started to search through this forum and found some postings about autobrake issues. But, there was no obvious solution or useful hint I found, maybe the statements are outdated, anyway, I thought I ask again. At the moment I don't remember if I used the CH control software to calibrate the pedal brake axis and set a decent null zone or if I delegated this job to FSUIPC, fact is that FSX don't has the brake axis assigned. And, I don't get the white-on-red brakes indication in the lower left corner of the screen during landing rollout with engaged autobrakes. So, I suspect there's something not correct in my setup.Does anyone have some actual information what I can try to get autobrakes working and if I should receive the visual brakes indication so I could tell they are working?

Using CH rudder pedals for years, and I just went through this exact problem several weeks ago with my MD-11. Why the issue just cropped up recently is beyond me.The trick is, to use the registerd version of FSUIPC and for the toe-brakes only, use the "Send Direct to FSUIPC" when assigning the axis. Leave all the other axis set to "Send as Normal". This is because the advance code of pay-ware complex aircraft need the other axis to be seen as normal FS axis, not directly from the FSUIPC calibration subroutine. In your FSUIPC ini file, you should now see a "D" in the toe-brakes axis entries instead of an "F", which should be listed for all aother axis associated with the MD-11. Then properly calibrate the toe brakes in FSUIPC, and be sure to check the "Rev" box for each. Also, be sure you have a good throttle calibration - you should see 0 output in FSUIPC when in the idle detents. Make sure you set your hardware throttle levers to idle/0 sometime before touchdown so the autobrakes with come on.This also fixed my autobrakes issue in the Queen, but for some reason, I have to kill the autothrottle in the Queen just before touchdown, or the Queen still won't apply autobrakes. In both cases, the spoilers always worked, it was just the autobrakes and the red/white brakes indicator would not activate on a perfect touchdown.

Hi Andreas,No need to have FSUIPC registered (I have not). Have just a look there : http://www.mpfss.de/brakefix.phpIt works like a charm for me and its free. Just don't forget to enable it every time you open a fsx session. I use it with the MD-11 and the Queen....Regards.Richard Portier
