September 28, 200322 yr I've read posts on this forum that we should all wait for the 3.8 Drivers from ATI and that the 3.7's are NO real improvement over the 3.6's. I'm telling you that I downloaded the 3.7's today (over 20 megs) and replaced my 3.6 drivers. I have a Radeon 9800Pro 128 board, and even though I was getting good frames with the 3.6 drivers, the frames are BETTER and definitely more CONSISTENT with the 3.7's. I'm sure the 3.8's will be good, but the new ones (3.7's)are very, very good. Don't underestimate these drivers, and if you've been hesitating....I wouldn't. I did a RESTORE point before installing just in case I didn't like the result, but I LOVE the result. I even flew in Fairbanks, Alaska, with Real Weather (my individual test for frames), and it stayed pretty close to 25fps (my lock point) and the Clouds were quite heavy. You have nothing to lose if you're a Radeon card user. Download the 3.7's and tell me if you think they're an improvement. I think you'll say they are. Stan
September 28, 200322 yr Hey, I downloaded the catalyst 3.7 too, and saw a majo improvement in FPS but the textures in general looked discolored. Any Ideas?
September 28, 200322 yr Yea,Wait for the 3.8's. There supposed to fix the bleeding text and flashing screen in full screen mode and ATI beta testers say there are a lot of goodies with the 3.8's. Eric
September 28, 200322 yr Catalyst 3.8 comes out October 8.I'm currently using Catalyst 3.7 and am very satisfied with the performance. The flashing isn't really a big deal for me. But if they'll get fixed in 3.8, that will be good.Regards
September 29, 200322 yr I run in 1600x1200x32 in windowed mode and it's great, certainly just as good as full screen with fast menu access!Peter James
September 29, 200322 yr Author I agree that 3.7 are the best Cats to date and look forward to the 3.8 in October.
