October 1, 200322 yr Question. What I've noticed with active sky over the default FS 2004 weather is that it doesnt handle localized weather real well. By this I mean, if I take off from point a, and point b is 30 miles north of my with thunderstorms, and point a is sunny, activesky has a hard time displaying this distant weather. Flight sim's default real weather shows storm clouds in the distance, but active sky shows sunny skies until I get in the area of airport b.Is this a flaw with active sky?
October 1, 200322 yr ActiveSky 1.x was designed for FS2002. Damian has made it work with FS2004, but it's not perfect. Version 2.x, on the other hand, is being designed from the ground up for FS2004. From what I know of Damian's work, I am sure that he will solve these problems and improve greatly on the default weather engine.
October 1, 200322 yr Yes, for the reason mentioned above.Waiting for V2, I am using FS-Meteo who manages local weather very good.
October 1, 200322 yr Author If you look at Active Sky's Avsim forum thread on version 2 features, you will find it is the first version to implement local weather. As such it will also include a weather radar gauge which would require local weather environment to be more accurate in locating precip cells. It is still in development but is getting closer. It will only support FS2K4.
