October 1, 200322 yr Hi,What is the closest to the real thing you can get in FS9 when it comes to jet A/C's? Have been flying the MelJet 777 for a while but I miss working taxilights visible from the cockpit, a working and realistic FMC and a couple of other things that decreases the overall realistic feeling and joy of flying.Found the PMDG 737NG over at http://www.precisionmanuals.com which I found very interesting but maybe there are better and even more realistic alternatives out there when it comes both to realism and realistic and great looking graphics. Some things that I really like are realistic cockpit, cabin and wing-views and I also find the sound both inside and outside the A/C very important - all to add to that most realistic feel :-)Also have another question. I've been waiting for a FS9 compatible AI traffic program (AITM, Ultimate Traffic) but today I found a third alternative - MyTraffic2004. How does that program compare to the others? Maybe UT first of all since they both are the payware products. I really want a good program to have more realistic AI traffic in FS2004 in an easy way - should I go for MyTraffic or keep waiting for a FS2004 compatible version of UT?Thanks in advance for any tips you can give me on both questions!Richard
October 1, 200322 yr The Beechjet 400a and/or Hawker XP are about as good as they come if you don't mind bizjets....Check them out at www.eaglesoftdg1.com
October 1, 200322 yr "The most accurate and best looking A/C for FS9...?"---------------------Ya gotta pick just one adjective and compromise on the other. The actual answer to your question is: It ain't been made yet. ;)Racartronit means something, but I just can't remember what
October 1, 200322 yr Author You'll like the PMDG 737NG.. great Avionics, incl FMC and wonderful liveries. Bert
October 1, 200322 yr Right now, I have the Eagle soft Hawker 400XP, the PMDG737, the PIC767 panel with the IFDG757 and the Freeware ERJ145. I use the RealityXP 530XP with both the Hawker and the ERJ.In order from most used to least used: 1. ERJ2. 737NG3. 7574. HawkerThe 757 is low on the list because the panel needs the Frankenstein fixes to work with FS9. Also the .airfile hasn't been modified for FS9 yet.The Hawker....I'm waiting on Reality XP's JetLine2004 to get the most use out of that product. The 737NG.....no TCAS. That has been a bit of a problem for me, but I still use it alot. The Bill Grabrowski's ERJ panel has been updated for FS9, as well as the .airfiles. You can get all from the Project ERJ site. I am having the most fun with that bird.....the panel is very well done and it has a TCAS and the 530XP works nicely. The best Freeware panel out there IMHO.Bill is working on a CRJ with eaglesoft. He is also working on an MD11 which will be freeware. Last I heard, he is actually programming an FMC for it. This will be the First freeware panel with a functional FMC.BTW, I also have some GA prop aircraft, but you only asked about Jets.
October 1, 200322 yr The suggestion for the HawkerXP is a good one. Very nice A/C. But the PMDG 737 is probably your best bet since you seem to be wanting an FMC. They outdid themselves on the excellent sounds too. HawkerXP also has great sound. For the question concerning UT vs. MT2004, I am just going to copy and paste what I put in another thread recently...I am a happy MyTraffic user. Not sure your question is about exactly concerning the "modified airfiles", as there is no modification needed that I'm aware of. Just don't try to use the planes to fly with. The airfiles are simple because they are made for AI traffic purposes only. I suggest reading reviews about the products. There are such reviews at www.simflight.com and www.flightsim.comThere are some differences between the two, as you may already be aware. Both are worthy of purchase. Ultimate traffic is based on Real World schedules, MyTraffic is not. The good part of that is that MyTraffic has more traffic around the clock. Ultimate traffic has better looking(higher detail paints) aircraft. MyTraffic serves more airports than Ultimate traffic. MyTraffic has GA and some Military traffic, Ultimate traffic does not. Ultimate Traffic has a nice online updater that allows you to to add aircraft and flight plans. Ect, ect. Read about more of the differences in the reviews. I prefer MyTraffic due to the higher amount of traffic around the clock, and the inclusion of GA and military flights, not to mention it serves more airports(5,500 vs. 4,000).Not sure about finding an exact list of Airliners MyTraffic provides, but according to the review on www.simflight.com it comes with 62 models and a total of 1080 liveries.Hope that helps,Jim"Variable, this is EasyRhino. Do you copy? Over." Loud and clear EasyRhino. "Do we have a gig? Over." That's a Roger, we have a gig. Target is painted, start the music. "Roger that Variable. Into attack. Pickling target. Target is acquired and lit. LGB comin' down!" EasyRhino, circular error probability zero. Impact with High Order Detonation. Thank You, have a nice day.
October 1, 200322 yr I think the Dreamfleet Cessna 310 is a great airplane, and very accurate. Cheaper than the alternatives listed above as well. Of course, it has far fewer systems to model.
October 2, 200322 yr Thanks for all the tips guys!Must say after reading numerous threads that it sure isn't an easy task knowing what to go for. Some say that PMDG sucks while other says Ariane does and so on and so on...I know it's up to me in the end what I will go for, but again - this wasn't easy!!Anyways, thanks again for your tips!/Richard
