Hi there guys. I'm just wondering if you guys could give me a little help.I bought a bunch of parts; I'l list them after, And assembled them.. So I built my own computer. The thing thats left is the Graphics Card and the Power Suply Unit.Looking at the specs below.. What PSU and Graphics Card do you think I should get to complete my system and to run FSX and the NGX perfectly - Mostly anywhere ? With scenery.Processor Intel® Core i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz, 4000 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 6.00 GB DDR3 1600MhzOS Name Microsoft Windows 7 UltimateSystem Type x64-based PCATI Radeon HD 4650Adapter RAM 1.00 GB (1,073,741,824 bytes)And the PSU is 300W.Any price within the region of £200 - £220 for both of them ?Thanks.Ross Thomson

Hello Ross, living in Euroland I can't comment on the price, but you should consider a more powerful PSU if you are planning to overclock the CPU. Taking further updates into consideration you should, in my opinion, aim for at least 500W and a decent brand. It's not so much about the total power output, but the capacity of the individual rails. Cheap PSU's are not so great in that regard. I would recommend a Coolermaster product, as I like their cable management, but everybody has a different favorite. AMD GPU's are great value for their price but there are some driver related issues that can lead to minimal graphic corruption with PMDG products, nothing major but still unnecessary.

Thankyou. I will go for a Coolermaster. And I will try and search for a decent GPU. Such as a Nvidia, as I heard FSX is better with Nvidia ?thanks alot. Ross Thomson.

I would go for nvidia, there drivers are a lot easier to update.Their drivers are just crap! I really don't understand why they don't change them...for the above reason I suggest you get nvidia.David DD

Hi,I can only repeat what the other guys mentioned. If You have only 200 to spend for a psu and a videocard i would buy a decent psu my favourite is Corsair HX series around 500-600watt and wait with the buying of the videocard, I would go for a GTX 460 or wait for the 5 series nvidia. and for sure nvidiaIf You wish to O,C. the cpu (and you really should, you will see huge inprovement in fps) get a good cooler for your cpu.

Hi there, My CPU is at 3.8 GHz and I have the Coolermaster V8 CPU cooler. My Frames are still disguisting though. And I also have 6gb ddr3 ram. (Corsair).

How many fps do you get on average, Ross?

About 20 fps, no tweaks or anything.

That doesn't sound too bad if this is around add-on scenery and with lots of AI traffic. As for tweaking, be sure you check out the various fixes that ******* Altuve has posted here on AVSIM. The things I found to be eating away the most frames seem to be AI traffic , REX HD clouds and maximum water shader settings. Try lowering those a bit and see if this improves anything.

REX Clouds is on the lowest possible resolution, same for water. No AI traffic, no scenery, just the QW757 or CS 767.As for the tweaks I can never ever find them in the forum, I like when people just take it out and post it, just what your supposed to put in, not explaining it or anything, I miss the point half the time. So I cant find them. I just don't understand why my frames are so bad. The i7 and X58 were especially for FSX, As I heard FSX is more CPU independent. And I keep getting memory_management errors.. you know the big blue screen that restarts.. and then sometimes I get a overclocking failed but i just restart, have you got any idea why I'm getting these frames and have you got any tweaks or anything ?Thanks !

Interesting, I didn't know blue screens still existed with Windows 7. The fixes are linked to in this thread: http://forum.avsim.n...solution-found/Have you tried the obvious fixes like defragmenting your hard drive and disabling unnecessary background processes? Overclocking failed? What's that?If I may take a wild guess, maybe your PSU can't cope with your OCed components when they are near or at full load. Have you tested your OC for stability?

I havnt defragmented the hard drive, I have game booster and stuff, which helps a little, but I really would like the parts and tweaks for a comp that can run NGX with scenery. And still be almost fluid smooth. Thanks !

Well,20 frames is almost fluid, but try the fixes in the linked thread. The info is right at the top. Gamebooster is really a superfluous piece of software. Something is wrong with your setup. I get the same frames as you (except in really dense scenery) with a much less powerful system, yet it still looks decent.

300W Random make (Came from last computer, same for graphics card
Ah, here's your problem...It's far too easy to skimp on a power supply, but this is the thing powering your computer! You want stable currents flowing into your expensive components and 300W is not enough for your setup, particularly if it is a generic brand. Generics often boost their wattages by having higher outputs on the lower voltage rails, whereas you need more current on your 12V rail. Insufficient power can lead to system instability, which leads to crashes.
