...is there absolutely no way around this for those who dont have one or the other (or either) of the Ariane or MD11? I have the MD.

Maybe there is, but i don't have any other add on, or light fx that have same effect, as effects used in those configurations.

I gave the Ariane a try along time ago. When I rebuilt my machine I tried the activation process only to find I was charged, had another glitch with my machine and found I was required to go through the process all over again. Ariane was a mess and that's putting it lightly but it was our only option other than PMDG. I'm so glade I didn't totally uninstall the thing leaving the effect files in place. I've said this many times there were some good things about the Ariane model and little things like these effect files prove it. The whole package together was another story when you factored in price, slow gauge refresh rate in FS9, and charge for reinstalling the thing. I learnt long ago as a rule of thumb to keep things like sound packages and effect files because you never know when they'll come in handy. I would have never guessed I would be using these files with iFly's model but they've worked out great until the SP is release with hopefully updated VC lighting...
