October 6, 200322 yr Hi Folks - New user, and interested in using the GPS output from FS to drive a PDA-based device. Preferably, I'd like to generate standard NMEA 183 messages as the output from the PC.Any ideas? I assume there's an SDK out there, but no idea where.FYI - the use is development support for some software running on Pocket PC to detect and avoid TFRs and other SUA. Using MS FS to drive the test data will also allow us to run through testing a bit sooner than if we have to do everything in the lab or airborne. Thanks!Todd
October 6, 200322 yr I can't help at all.I would like to point you to www.bearsoft.de however. Check the products page. There is an app in beta called Radio Stack that sends the radio stack freqs to a palm via the serial/cradle interface. Maybe the author of that app can help you out...unless you're him ;)http://www.bearsoft.de/pics/palmMain.jpgsg [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
October 6, 200322 yr Hi.Very simple, get GPSOUT.zip (for FS9) from AVSIM, connect your PDA with Null modem cable to your Serial port and you are done. Post here if you need more info. PS you can also run both the sim and your Moving map on the same system, 2 monitors, if you have 2 Serial ports, it may be what should look at for testing purposes. TV
October 6, 200322 yr Author I do this using Peter Dowson's gpsout utility. This can be downloaded from:http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmlThe utulity fools your pda into thinking it is getting gps output. Therefore I can use all the flight software I do in the real plane including Anywhere Map, Pocket Plates, and scanned maps with oziexplorer-all with fs!http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/...ebpage/cap.htmlhttp://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/grid/cap.htmlhttp://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/FNT/cap.html Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
October 8, 200322 yr Folks:Thanks - excellent guidance...definitely pays to know where the experts hang out!For anyone headed to AOPA Expo, look for the CAASD booth - we (fingers crossed) should be showing TFR avoidance software using FS 2004 to gen the GPS input to a 5500 series IPAQ.Again, thanks!Todd
